Norms vs Ranked

So I've never played ranked and only played norms since I don't really play too seriously. However, I've heard people say that ranked is filled with trolls and feeders so they move to norms instead, whereas I've heard others say that norms is a place where you can test new things and not play as serious as ranked.

So I'm wondering what are your thoughts about this? Why would this be the case, or are they just exaggerating and giving out misleading information? And if what is said above is true, then which would you guys prefer to go for to win more games? I've never played ranked before so I'm not sure about the experiences in that mode.

I play norms to continue to progress my play till I think I can get ti plat, my friends tell me I'm good enough n maybe I am but till I feEl I am I'll stick to norms. I'll get to go every season cause I can for the victorious skin, but till I feel I can get plat I'll stick to norms

I'm a normals main myself. I'm getting close to 3,000 or so wins in normals and have been this way since 2010. The way I look at it is this.

-Ranked: Serious competitive play where you try your best and play the champions you're best at. This is not where you try out new champs or surrender at the 15 minute mark just because your team is 0/3.

-Draft Pick Normals: Practicing in a competitive environment without the pressure of losing anything. This is where I usually see a lot of premades or duo partners practice to see how viable they would be in ranked.

-Blind pick: Casual play, plain and simple. Perfect for trying out troll builds and off meta picks and playing with friends. However, there has always been a small amount of players who think that inting, flaming or afking is acceptable because "lol it's normals who cares" - This is not the case, it should be treated as a game type where everyone is still trying to win.

They're both the same at my level, there's even the same trash talking/raging.
