What was the situation leading up to it, since my personal experience has proven that statement false multiple times this season.

No, I can confirm. Get promoted, lose a game, win a game, lose a game, win a game, lose a game, demoted. The amount of LP you earn is not enough to counteract the amount you lose, and the system demotes you as soon as the fifth game is over.

I've been demoted three times when a loss followed a win.

It's complete horsesh!t, too, I had an account that got placed in silver 5 and lost 20 games straight and didn't get demoted.

once you are past silver you cannot be demoted anymore

I just lost twice in a row at 0lp, won my next match and got 25lp.

I will never reach my dream rank of bronze 5.
