Annie's E (Molten Shield) Rework
When you think of
, you think of "flash in -> use abilities to burst" .... or just a "burst or bust" mindset. But her E doesn't really play a part in that. Sure it gives her dmg % reduction to help tank damage, but it doesn't seem to match her kit well as a burst mage. Players usually just use it as a free "add charge" to ready her stun passive and sometimes completely forget that it does dmg reduction while active.
I suggest that instead, her E should be replaced with something more aligned with her recognition as a pyro-mage, but also to suit her lore as the daughter of Amoline, the Shadow Witch.
Annie's new E should be summoning a Will-o'-the-wisp
that would move on a predetermined path, similar to that of Kalista's W (Sentinals). But in line with her heritage, whenever seen by a ward or some other vision-granting ability (ashe's hawkeye for example), instead of seeing it as a wisp, the enemy team sees it as a champion who they do not currently have vision of.
This gives Annie so much potential for direct and indirect playmaking, even if it doesn't do damage.
Early game example:
Say your team consists of mid Annie, jungle Rammus who is currently at Red buff, an ADC Draven, and a top Nasus who is in base buying items. Annie throws out the wisp near botlane. The enemy Braum places a ward in tribush and then the wisp gets near. Instead of the wisp, they see the Rammus in tribush. Now, the enemy botlane has 2 options. Go facecheck to see if its the wisp or actually Rammus. If it was just a wisp, they wasted precious time and allowed Draven to farm freely. But do they dare risk pushing when they saw "Rammus"? What if it really was him? He'd easily gank them if they push out or facecheck...so they decide to play safely under turret just out of fear of Rammus ganking...when Rammus is in fact getting ready to gank top after he got red buff.
Without Annie needing to camp bot, she helps relive some pressure in botlane allowing her Draven to farm and allowed for top lane to possibly get a kill because botlane didnt check to see if it really was rammus or not.
Late game example:
Annie uses her wisp near bot and it appears as "Draven" 40 minutes into the game.
Everyone knows that a kill this late in the game is game-changing, so the enemy team sees "Draven" is alone bot and decide to flank him for an easy kill. When they get there and realize it wasn't really Draven, Annie's team could get a desperate baron play OR.... her team could assassinate an enemy team member while they are out of position trying to flank "Draven".
This ability is something we haven't really seen in League of Legends yet and I feel its a nice nod to her mother, manipulating light and shadows to make the enemy fear something that is or is not there.
I hope you all enjoyed the idea!
