@Riot: Suggestion to implement Champion Mastery into Ranked use.

"First time X," types are a huge problem for people in ranked games who'd actually like to win games. Since Mastery currently doesn't actually do anything, I suggest making reaching a certain level of mastery (possibly 2 or 3, that's not unreasonable and requires you to play a decent number of games) with a champion a requirement before they are eligible for use in Ranked games.

So how would we counter pick? This would make the game less competitive because it is revolving around luck that the person doesn't have enough champion points to counterpick this dude such and such. Making stuff like 1 champion wonders excel more than they should be.

As long as it only effects something I havent been playing in ranked already. I'm trying to get into gold 3 atm. Ifa change like this went through id only be able to play 3 champions and none of them are champs i play in ranked.

well, I have 2 supports and like 2 adcs with any mastery points above zero since they implemented the system so that means that I can actually say that I literally cannot bot lane since riot won't let me

So now, instead of having to have owned 16 champions, you now have to have played 16 champions enough to get them to level 2-3. And you have to have done it in normal SR, since that's the only map that gives champion mastery. And you probably should have a spread of roles and positions in your group of champions, so you need to be able to play a bunch of roles in a bunch of normal games; sure, support would be easy, but what about mid or top?

Is it worth the amount of annoyance it would add to be able to play ranked in order to improve the ranked experience? How often are 'first time' players of certain champions?

Tbf most people only say they are first time x to scare their team or excuse their bad play
