Is it just me or do minions hate meele champs?

AgeOfTheMage··85 votes·2,875 views

idk, it always seems to go in the enemies favor: me: pokes enemy marksmen once with a fiora Q then runs away, only to be chased by the whole wave, where some even follow me to turret enemy marksmen: repeatedly pokes me while i'm next to my minion wave, and proceeds to get attacked by 1 minion, which leaves them alone after 1-2 seconds maybe I'm just crazy, but it just seems that way to me.

I thought this post was gonna be about minion block because damn is minion block a binch to deal with

Resonance x LFT3 votes

Unit collision is dumb in general.

Anastaecia8 votes

are you accidentally aaing the enemy champ? that creates minion aggro

duck into a bush to lose it..if they still chase, then you know it's warded

AgeOfTheMage9 votes

no, usually I just poke with fiora's Q(usually hitting a vital) then running off, only to have the whole wave chase me really far, while some champs seem to do that freely but hardly have any minions follow them.

Only other potential answer I could think of is you were simply too close to them in general. They'll take priority of you over the other minion if you happen to be closer to them when they need to change focus to a new target, for one reason or another. There are a couple to a few ticks that effect their behavior.

Fiora Q is counted as an AA i believe as it does apply on-hit effects and life steal and can be avoided by things like Jax E

That makes sense. I haven't played Fiora enough to know.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

Don't count on jax E that ability is complete trash rn. Sometimes it blocks GP q. Sometimes you get damage. Sometimes only the trinity force procc damage comes through. Same with a lof ot other abilites hitting you while counterstriking. Despite playing the matchup a lot i never wasted my E against fiora Q proccs so i can't tell if it actually blocks. I guess yes but the vital damage comes through.

It blocks the Q but not the sheen dmg iirc.

Fiora Q is like an AA and draws minion aggro Try Q then running into a bush

ForFoxSakes4 votes

It's not the same.

You can be a melee champ standing in the wave and hit the enemy champ and the enemy minions all aggro on you. Replace a ranged champ in the exact same position and the enemy minions dont all aggro on you

AgeOfTheMage2 votes

this is what i'm talkin about ^^

Not xPeke2 votes

Fiora Q counts as an AA... That's why you aggroed the minions. Also just walking into the bush (if unwarded) will instantly drop the minon aggro after trading with Q on Fiora for example.

What FofFoxSakes said is NOT true.

DuskDaUmbreon2 votes

Show me a video on this, because I have yet to see that.

I GANK LANES1 votes

Just try it yourself... lol, if you go into a bush the minions lose sight of you therefore you drop the aggro... lmao Rengsr relies on this when he lanes top

DuskDaUmbreon1 votes

Fiora's Q is counted as a aa,iirc

Mordepool6 votes

The aggro range is. Shit. It should be much longer range on ranged Champion than a melee

Oakleaf Ranger5 votes

It's because your playing Fiora, your minions would aggro you if friendly fire was possible.

What Is Smite4 votes

It has to do with agro range, the lane minions are similar to jungle camps where they can only move so far away from their initial point before they reset to their default position. I think it was in season 4/5 that minions could follow you through the jungle/river giving away your position when you tried to roam as a laner/gank as a jungler

Bard R Friday3 votes

Basic attacks or abilities applying on-hit effects(like Fiora's Q) draw minion aggro. If the enemy only uses spells on you then they won't draw aggro.

rtbf2256182413 votes

Well yeah, the problem is that caster minions burst a fair chunk of your health and you can't really fight a Ranged champion as Melee, thanks to the Ranged champion never having to tank through you AND the minions due to their...range.

KuroCaliber3 votes

Good, you deserve to suffer as much as possible for playing fiora.

AgeOfTheMage4 votes

what do you have against fiora?

it be lìke that6 votes

People hate when any high damage melee champ goes above a 50% winrate, it isn't fair to their 56% and 52% botlane champs.

KuroCaliber7 votes

Actually, I play support and some top mostly. I'm fine with multiple top laners, heck I'd even defend Darius, but with Fiora it's a literal race against time. Once she has 1.5 items she'll just outlast you with superior built-in sustain, outmaneuver you with superior mobility, punish you for building tank with spammable no-cooldown % max health true damage, or punish you for building damage with attack speed slows and the ability to get off 5 auto attacks in the time of two. (AA-Q-AA-E-AA). Or just straight up run circles around you with two different sources of in kit movespeed boosts. On Vital proc, (which also does damage and heal her) or just by being in the vicinity of a champion she point and clicked R on. Compound that with black cleaver, and you have armor shred, nullifying your ability to reduce at least the PHYSICAL damage she does, and even more movespeed, as if she didn't have enough already.

AgeOfTheMage2 votes

item 3076

KuroCaliber2 votes

-40% healing basically just delays her powerspike by another item. Instead of cleaver tiamat, you have cleaver, hydra, vamp scepter and suddenly you're just peachy. Bramble Vest is only really effective on tanks because fighters NEED damage in order to trade. But Tanks still get screwed due to their immobility, having their engage CC parried, or her % max health true damage negating the armor that came with bramble vest.

Unlike building zhonya's to counter Zed, vest offers no offensive capabilities. you could argue calling, but then that would still gimp you 800 gold and you'd either end up building mortal reminder, or just selling i later on. In either case, by virtue of her kit, she can build glass cannon on first two items and just drain tank during duels, while her opponents are forced into buying grievous wounds not to win lane, but simply to have a chance to kill her with jungler assistance.

Vest becomes even more useless when she finishes bloodthirster, gaining the grieveoused equivalent of an ungrievoused Ravenous, and then all of that healing is further amplified when she inevitably buys spirit Visage.

AgeOfTheMage1 votes

I only get spirit visage against a heavy magic damage team, though you said she can face tank, if you are able to burst her fast enough, or get her to miss a Q she can be killed pretty quickly, after all she is still a glass canon. Black cleaver I only get against a tank, otherwise it's trinity. while she can have a nice powerspike at ravenous, you just have to shut her down/kill early and she becomes weak throughout the game(till late game when shes finally full build) when behind fiora is terrible, when ahead she's a nightmare.

KuroCaliber1 votes

I think it's easier to miss a Morgana bind than it is to miss for q, it literally has a 150 radius detection range to proc the reset, which is massive compared to other similar abilities. Also shut her down early when? When she can q auto or auto q auto you for 295% of her AD and 6% of your Max health every 6.4s? Or maybe when she can deal 535% of her AD level 2, with Q and E. In the space it takes you hit two or three autos? Or maybe level three, when she can pull an irelia and just Parry stun you for daring to try and cc her. Or maybe lvl 4 or five, where hey q literally hurts more than her basic attacks on a 5.6 or 4.8s CD respectively? I know for sure you aren't referring to level 6, where she gains the ability to point and click on you to give her movespeed, and decide that you'll have a vital no matter where she decides to hit you? So I wonder when she's exactly weak?

cocacolalips1 votes

korean pro tip: fiora is weak when she is dead ;o (still not the worst dead champion tho, her R healing does stuff even after she dies)

RankOneUganda3 votes

yeah. minion aggro is calculated by how far away from minions you are. at a certain distance the minion will attack you. if you're ranged. then when you auto. less minions are in yoru ranged

its stupid that wa y

Not xPeke2 votes

it's not stupid, it makes sense lol.

You can argue it's "unfair", but not that it's stupid.

Why would minions far form you aggro more than if you're close to them? You're far from them.. it's only logical lmao.

xelaker2 votes

you are much closer as the melee so they stay in their aggressive since you don't create enough space quickly

JackMcSnipeyz2 votes

It's because you are closer to their agro range. Cait for example at max range takes like 2 steps back and she's safe

Aeswere2 votes

Because minions have aggro range. If they're not in range, they do not attack.

Zeds Dead1 votes

Never had that happen as a melee champ. on a rare and im talking twice in my entire game play time. I had a single melee minion follow me from top lane to almost baron. But no, I don't normally have this prob.

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

If they want to make ranged vs melee more balanced then this is honestly the place to start, make ranged champs keep agro from minions longer.

Elkington VI1 votes

Many times, I feel like Riot hates melee champs, particularly all the ones without gap closing abilities.

Verxint1 votes

I swear I've had multiple times where a ranged champ is standing in the middle of my minions autoattacking me and they don't even aggro him. Honestly, minions should aggro champions that go past their line IMO - if you want to zone someone, you should have to fight their creeps too.

Blue Moon Wolf1 votes

Its really about the range. Melee needs to get up close and personal with an enemy to do damage and depending on position, it will trigger more aggro do to how close you were to the entire enemy minion horde as appose to a ranged champ who is able to poke from a safer distance, further from minion aggro. In short, melee needs to get close to the enemy, triggering aggro cause of how close you are to minions. ranged attack from further away, making fewer minions detect that the enemy champ hit their ally champ. Its part of the reason why there are some melee champs who can use parts of their kit that can avoid, mitigate or delay minion aggro, since its something that can really kill a melee champ if they go to engage.

Ahris1 votes

Good melee champs do need counterplay. Midlane is full of melee champs and it is annoying.

Blakiepug1 votes

They also hate Teemo.

Bottom Laner2 votes

Everyone does.

Altonius Amakiir1 votes

They lose aggro when you get so far away from them or the lane, so as long as you aren't fighting in their minion wave(your minion wave is present fighting their minions when you attack) they lose aggro fairly quickly still.
