Mastery System is kind of flawed

So recently I had this match where an Akali was trying to get an S rank to get to level 7. If we had skirmishes where we could win if she helped she would just leave to keep a low death count. When we needed her to fight in team fights and group she would just farm because she needed the S rank. And even when I tried to farm Jungle camps when I would start them she would just ult them and take them. We eventually lost the game because she left our jg and I(our mid) to 2v2 when we could've easily won if she had helped. She just watched us from the brush. I don't completely blame her because I have played like that before just to get an S rank. I just feel like the system makes you play extremely selfishly which usually ends up in a loss. Usually ends up you do good because you wouldn't help in fights and your team feeds because you didn't help. Anyone else think the system is flawed

It's common to human nature to show their selfish - self centered - douche side a lot in games that make no impact on their real lives especially when they play jungle.

I have gotten my main supports to level by supporting :P Let me tell you, its not exactly the easiest thing to be there for most of the teams kills when no one groups often at my elo.
