Call for discusion - Executioner's calling - make a support item that builds out of it - worth ?

Today's meta has a lot of sustaining champions and heals coming in from supports. because of that there is value for a support player to pick up a grievous wounds item. right now the options are item 3165 and item 3123.

picking up item 3123 is really nice on AA-focused or tank supports. for AA focused supports item 3123 has more synergy with their general play style than item 3165. for tanks, item 3123 is a cheap item and is a minimal compromise for a mid game build compared to the expensive mage item item 3165. Also tanks and supports have a tendency to blow skills early in fights as either an engage or a reaction to one, and item 3123 allows the application of grievous wounds early on rather than as a kill secure measure.

item 3123 is a nice item for supports that allows for a different item path and a different set of supporting tools than the usual. The problem with item 3123 is that it does not develop into any high tier item that fits the support champions well.

for AAing supports, 50 AD is a big blessing that has synergy with item 3050. However, since the damage output is still relatively weak, the armor penetration passive is somewhat of a waste; Although it can be good since you're expected to attack the person jumping your carry and that person can easily be a tank. for tank supports, an item with some defensive stats on it will fit much better, and allow them to compensate in the late game for their early game investment.

I think there is a room to make 2 more development items out of item 3123, both aimed towards the support role. One, an AA focused item with AD on it and a flashy offensive active that replaces the armor pen from last whisper, and a second one with some tank stats and also a nice, flashy active.

Thoughts?

if there were a support oriented grievous wounds item, it would be a mandatory buy and ADs would never buy executioner's calling

I am not sure you are correct. item 3105 item 3174 item 3110 item 3512 item 3050 item 3504 item 3222 are fairly strong items and you would be missing out on some of them.

The delicate issue is that such an item must not be desirable to anyone other than supports. Given that like 0% of supports actually build AD, this item would be picked on top laners hoping to screw over sustain tanks, especially if it has tanky stats like HP and a great active.

why are top lane champions not currently purchasing item 3123 as an early game countermeasure to sustain tanks? It is a small investment that can easily replace item 3133 as an early buy and affect a snowball by the power of countering an opponent's basic mechanics. and can stay in your inventory right until it's time to go late game...

...at which point you may actually be considering item 3035, if sustaining tanks really are an issue in the game.

Some of them do. It just depends on the character and how important the sustain is to their opponent. There aren't very many sustain tanks as it is. It's basically just Vlad, Mundo, and Swain who will be significantly affected by it.

I'd rather they just remove the Grievous wounds effect from the game or nerf the effect by a significant amount (to 15% or so, instead of 40%), and adjust healing accordingly. As it stands, healing is either way too strong or bad, simply because the effect is in the game and it has to be meaningful. If healing is balanced, grievous wounds is going to make it garbage, so healing has to be way too powerful (if it's a core element to a character's kit like it is for Soraka, Mundo, and Vlad) to compensate.
