The meta makes it rough on players that aren't playing the marksman of the moment. Right now it's
and a little while ago it was
. Even when you are, it doesn't feel as good as other roles. Let's start with the laning phase. It sucks
I'm a Gold support main on NA. This season has seen an increase in AP building supports.

They all can do a lot of damage and zone you off with just
. This makes the laning phase a struggle, especially if you add in an early game dive from the wandering mid laner and jungler. Something else I'm seeing more of this game. 4 man bot ganks.
Sometimes AP supports will end the game doing more damage than ADCs. The reason we're seeing way more of these supports is because of what happens when you leave lane. You run into the dreaded assassins.
They're so slippery and do a ton of stupid damage with almost no drawbacks. There isn't really a lot you can do to combat this because playing super safely will just cause you to be behind which is terrible as someone who scales. At some point you need to take risks.
AP building supports can kill these assassins before or after they get to you, or at least harass them so badly that they have to disengage, which is why we're seeing them. Death is the only thing that keeps those suckers off you.
The marksman role was busted last year. Now the assassins are making trouble for everyone.
