Lets Talk about Lux's E

ViiLLAiN··4 votes·758 views

Does anyone else feel like its almost impossible to miss this ability?

it usually covers the whole lane if thrown the right way and you can easily catch people with it and if she does hit u with that huge dmg and slow u almost certainly will be getting Q right after aa or an ult to take bascially half if not all ur hp

now i know dodging skill shots is important but what happens when a skill shot is almost 80 percent of the time undodgeable

Then you deal with it until you get a huge population of people to about it. And it must be bigger than the people who were excite for her new skin. In honesty, it is annoying how hard it is to dodge it. I played One for All as her and missing is literally neigh possible. Fought against Vaynes who always role out the way but still got caught. Especially if that is the ability you max first (I learned from playing her after seeing the differences between her q and e max). I hate that AOE for the longest time. The thing is, while it may not be instant like Nasus' or Morgana's, theirs are damage over time (dot) while Lux's is an actual damage source. I think there should be a delay between the field popping up and exploding, beyond the casting time delay, which is not enough time at all.

not to mention how long she can have it stay there and zone for

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

Zone control is really the only thing it gives. But it is not like it is hard to deal with that. Until she makes it explode, the ability is still active, so one can play aggressive and fight her knowing that ability will be longer to off cool down.

lol u cant go aggerssive on her after that cuz if shes smart she will just not want to fight until its back up and her range allows her to do tht also mid laners get ganked alot now so being aggressive vs a lux with a snare shield and slow probably isnt the smartest idea in a meta where junglers are prone to gank alot more frequently

In theory, unfortunately. In practice, this is usually not so.

ViiLLAiN1 votes

also zone control isnt the only thing it gives that is just one of its many uses

she can throw it out to burst u down easily

its a delayed aoe ability cant even call it a skill shot anymore because of how painfully easy it is to land

I actually argued with a former friend of mine that Lux's e is not a skill shot because of its size. Nice to know someone agrees with me.

I never get hit by her E but I usually hit opponents with my E when I play her only because I know how she is.. Might be why I can easily dodge any of her abilities when I fight a Lux.

for me it seems to move to fast to avoid and its width is really long so i cant even decide which way to go to avoid it if i dont have a dash its like u cant side step it like other skill shots

Line skill shots: intermediate difficulty to dodge- walk to the sides. AOE: Easiest difficulty- walk anywhere Lux's AOE: Hardest to dodge with it's size.

give it old gragas Q treatment

I feel this shouldn't be changed from the fact that others have a wide range such as Zed rushing and ulting her, Sol ( q and w), Syndra's W, Taliya's E, Brands W, E and Q combo and ganks from junglers. This would increasingly decrease her win rate. If you would have this changed what would you do to improve Lux removing such a beneficial skill?

first off it needs to be smaller and the dmg to be taken down a bit also dont think it should be allowed to stay for like what 4-5 seconds before it explodes?

she can be like every other immobile mage that deals with assassins

build zhonyas and watch ur positioing

she has a free shield for crying out loud she is over loaded kit and needs to be toned down for the longest now

she has been one of the best mages all of last season top 5 without a doubt

she was never weak always strong

thunderlords made her even worse with extra burst

ppl dont complain cuz they all love playing her free lp giving ass

With her shield she is still wrecked by many assassins. So, you make her E smaller and less damage. Okay, you can dodge it easier now and if it hits you it does less damage now. What makes that more fair?

ViiLLAiN1 votes

because she still does enough dmg already and can use a nerf to it

its still fair she still does alot of dmg just now she has to work for it instead of it being so easy for her

Lux is not even remotely OP, lol. She's been strong in like seasons 3-4, but compared to the nonsense that's out right now, she's tame as hell. You mean to tell me that she's more BS than Yasuo? LeBlanc? Lee Sin? Come on, really? Viktor Ahri and Ryze all have way easier to land harass and have much better zoning potential than Lux has. And they can also defend themselves from attacks far easier too.

She's completely dependant on her Q if she's even slightly out of position. Vs someone like Talon or LeBlanc, all they have to do is jump over the minion wave, and if Lux whiffs Q, she's either dead or will take a huge chunk of her hp out. She has absolutely zero mobility, and if she tries to gank a side lane and gets jumped while between lanes, she's dead if she misses her slow moving Q, which is telegraphed by a long windup and a voiceover.

Early on she's awful at waveclear because after she lands E, she still has to auto each one individually, as opposed to many other champs who can waveclear from afar (Viktor, Ahri, Malz, Ryze, LB) with almost no risk at all. Her E also has a very long CD, especially at low levels, and if she uses it to farm, you have free reign to jump on her and do serious damage.

It won't even oneshot caster minions until she has at least one completed item and has lvl 9+, unless you fed her somehow. If you stand off to the side of the wave, she can't hit you without committing her E solely to harassing you, and if she does, her farm will suffer greatly, and if she whiffs, she just lost a ton of mana and a long cooldown, and is now easy to harass and outtrade. The only way for her to really tag you with it is if you farm inside your own wave or don't react when she fires it. If you move the second her windup animation starts, it won't hit you unless you're point blank.

Her shield is not that good and the majority of it is delayed, even further than they've delayed most assassins' burst - the thing that makes it strong is the fact it affects multiple targets - in lane by herself, it's mediocre and easily bursted through.

Her only kill potential late game is to either KS her team with laser, or land her Q which sets up her combo - which is no different than Ahri landing charm and oneshotting the carry late game.

She's a decent champion if you can get her to late game with 45% CDR and a rabadon's, and can potentially laser twice in a teamfight, but early to mid game she is average at best.

It's a large aoe, but a slow missile speed. You can see her wind up the animation like .25-.5 sec before she fires it - it's up to you to predict where she's going to land it. Almost always, she's going to tag minions with it - if she tries to use it just on you, she risks wasting a lot of mana and a high cd ability for nothing.

I think Brand's pillar is harder to avoid, tbh.

ViiLLAiN1 votes

u say iits a slow missible speed but u dont realize how wuick .25 -.5 seconds are when ur average player plays on about 30-50 ping

If the projectile wasn't some tiny beam and showed the full circle outline of the AOE size as it traveled, that would be a nice QoL change.
