That's not what bans are for...

The Ban system wasn't made so that you could prevent your team from taking champions, it was made so that THEIR team can't choose certain champs that could break your team comp.

No, league's ranked system wasn't based on solo queue, it's based on Teamwork and communication.

And playing a champion for the first time isn't what ranked is for.

Agreed, however one who is willing and able to put the time in to have the element of surprise with a new champion should not be punished for the actions of idiots who do not understand what you're saying here.

As I said to DrCyanide if someone is willing and able to put in the effort to learn a champion ahead of time (aka PBE) they shouldn't be punished based on the actions of idiots who don't understand how to properly play ranked.

Bans are for stopping the enemy team from having champions, not your own team. You can argue about whether new champions should be allowed in ranked all day, however none of it will impact the purpose of bans.

the purpose of the bans is pretty self explanatory, banning a champion to increase your chances of winning/making sure a champ that will have a negative impact on your game wont be in it. banning kindred away from the guy on your team who just got her is as helpful as banning away veigar from the enemy
