@Riot. Have you considered?

Have you considered making items with multiple different passive's and which passive you get from the item depends on your Champions subclass?

I hear alot of Ranged vs Melee arguments thrown about. This idea could be used as an opportunity to allow for utility from both sides Without having one classes unitended use force the item to be nerfed.

##Increases diversity and allows more levers for Balance on item's

Please tell me what you think

two effects for two different classes that want different things and deserve them in different amounts... why not just make two different items?

I'd hate it because if I want to build my champion a certain way, I should be allowed to do so. Don't wanna be pigeonholed into a certain strat.

For instance, sometimes I play Morgana AP heavy, sometimes AP Bruiser, Sometimes almost full tank. What you are suggesting would seriously impair such flexibility.

God full tank Morganna would be tilting. It's basically a ranged tank.

She sometimes comes out when I'm playing top lane Morgana. Usually I go Bruiser top lane Morg, but sometimes full tank is justified.

You only need like 1 AP item to clear the whole wave with a puddle. Gives you a lot of flexibility to fuck with opposing top lane and JG.

One of my favorite matches was when I pulled out Morgana Top and pushed my opposing laner's shit in as if this was a prison shower room. After about 7-8 minutes in he spent the rest of the match spamming "THIS FUCKING MORGANA SAND" he was so tilted.

You could still buy the item and get the stats. OP is not suggesting preventing certain champions from buying an item. They are suggesting that certain item passives that are intended for certain classes could be taken away for the classes that would break them.

And what would end up happening is that those items would be rebalanced with those passives in mind, making it item efficiency suicide to buy them if your 'class' couldn't use the passives right. Would severely hinder build diversity.

What if there was a different passive for each class?

Maximum Morde1 votes

Same effect. Would be like masteries right now where certain things are locked in because everything else is trash for your class.

I'm pretty sure that already happens with items because certain build paths are indeed optimal.

But that aside, how can we be certain this is what would happen?

Maximum Morde1 votes

Certain build paths are optimal yes, but there are a variety of choices as far as which optimal build path you take.

As for how I can be certain that would happen? This is Riot we are talking about. Do you really think they would go through and make sure that every champ had a viable build path toward every role? Because I don't. Right now, it isn't the items that hold various champions back from doing different things, it's their own kit. That's one thing, and totally fine. No need to add further restrictions by ruining items unless absolutely needed.

That works as well. Perhaps with less powerful passives for unintended users

Would probably be a headache to balance but I like the idea.

Not out loud anyway.

Each item would be an essay. Giving something to almost all intended users. If not an intended user you still get the item just not the class specific passive

It's actually a very very good idea and could probably be implemented in youmuus since that's the main item that is flexed from ADC to assassins.

More balancing levers less knee jerk nerf item stats
