Let's talk about the new poppy
At this point in time everyone either thinks poppy is OP, uber weak, or just a troll pick. I would like to state that sure I've only practiced a few matches with her and a lot people will automaticly assume this is all wrong cause I bronze somthing currently. So I guess this is just my opinion but it's from a mechanical gameplay point of view. And hope a few will listen.
One of the reason some are saying that poppy is op is because of her level 3 powers pike. If you let her Harrass you post level 3 and she hits lvl 3 if she lands her full combo she's can easily manage to 75-0 you at lvl 3. If your topping her you have to take serious advantage of her power spike right here. Reason being is that it's not really her damage starts to trail off but because for early levels her damage is really good but after about lvl 4 the enemies start to get a few stats going. This is just a theory cause I keep seein people that know what there doin with her goin at lvl 3. If she manages to get the kill here she can blatantly snowball like crazy if her skill remains the same throughout the game. However if you can prevent this poppy will seem weak. Her stats kinda trail off, her scaling is horrible so doing full ad anymore is meh with the half damage passive gone. And also there are a fair amount of players that kinda derp her q and e a lot and almost everyone is having trouble finding effective use of a fully charged ult.
Well let's talk about how I think you should play her. I'll be talking about it as a support perspective since I main support and haven't played her top. Basicly peel. Peel peel peel. I like to start ancient coin on most of the supports I play for the sustain and extra income. During the early parts of the game your pretty useless if they have a poke support or a healer support. Starting level 3 is when you can really get some duels going in Bot lane. Obviously of course. But really it's best to only start a fight as a counterngage. As poppy is much better at peeling for your adc to kite instead of going all in and hope th adc follows up with you but fact is it's more than likely the adc isn't as mobile as you are and won't be able to fully follow up correctly. So waiting for them to get bored and engage is the better option. If they have a poke support then your kinda screwed til mid game.during mid game aka teamfights I've found it very effective to constantly change targets. Mainly focusing on the ones on top of your carry. Whether it be the adc or you mid laner just comtinuelsy change targets. In my last game they had a Leona that kept try to get on top of the adc during teamfights. Every time my e was up during the fight I'd e her into a wall then walk over to where the enemy adc is walk to set my q slow on the ground. After that the. Enemy assassin mid laner and top laner where on the adc. I wound up my ult from behind and managed to knock both of them away with a full charge.leona was back on top of my adc so I went back to e her into another wall. She still ended up dieing to the enemy adc once leonas 3 stuns were able to get past my one and mf managed to catch up to the jinx. I was building tank so I got out after that. Though as much as I hate blaming my teammates This jinx I don't think plays many adc's cause she did not kite or try to last hit the entire game. Plus she had a bunch of stupid mishaps on her targeting. The amount of peeling I did in that fight looked really bad ass though so it's a little sad it was wasted by the adc standing in one place focusing Leona the entire fight.
In the end we ended up losing to the fed mf our non kiting jinx and the 4th time rengar that canceled 2/3 autos in his 1 shot 3 auto reset combo and me for eventually going on tilt and over extending. But our teamfights were really good til the enemy got their core items rolling.
I don't think poppy is at all the play style that she used to be. Currently I see her as a top bruiser or a tank support. As far as her ult goes I see most constant use of it being playing keep off the carry with enemy team. Doing the switching targets multiple times does seem to work out well other than I can see it backfiringin the sense that in solo que the mentality of what to do in a fight seem to be focus the guy that our frontline starts fighting and switching targets a bunch may confuse that without a form of efficient comms. And once her passive stops proccing on pink wards I see it being a very viable support against some of the strong support picks right now. Leona, alistar, Braum, thresh, and the accasional shen support. As far as adc's go what adc doesn't fear a cc bruiser coming bot? Against poke supports you just gotta wait for ganks or dodge skillshots for 12 minutes. I personally like the new rework. You?
