When is it okay to push to tower as a jungler?

So, I watch alot of jungle steamers and they are always saying when your allies back to push to tower bc they are wasting their xp and you can make the enemy lose more xp. But every time I do this I get flamed and "reported" for grieving?

A lot of people in lower elo don't understand wave control, so here's a few tips.

  1. If the enemy has no TP up, and your laner has died, push to tower.

  2. If the enemy has no TP up, and your laner is CURRENTLY BACKING, push to tower.

The exception to this is if your laner is behind in cs but not kills, in which case they don't want the lane to reset.

Its kind of hard to give a simple answer for this as it can be extremely situational, but as far as jg goes there's a couple rules on your impact to lane management.

  1. Give way to your laners, even if you know better. Do not fight with them about what to do with THEIR lanes if you want to win, you might tilt them, or they might know something you dont.

  2. If the top laner died to your gank, has TP, and you're both capable of still fighting, do not push to tower. Your top can either set up a freeze or that opponent might TP back in and you can repeat gank, which should give your top laner a free lane. However if the enemy does not have TP, you do not want to wait around and your top laner probably wants to back and buy, help them push to tower. If the opponent has TP but you could not repeat gank, or could not win the 2v2 if the enemy jungle comes top, push to tower to force the TP, hopefully your top will not waste his TP though many silvers will and you will have TP advantage for other plays on map.

  3. While pushing in you can tax for the help, but dont overdo it. Vary your taxing habits depending on if you're playing a utility/tank style jungle vs a carry jungle like twitch, and consider who you are taxing. Gold on a hypercarry is worth more to your team than gold on a tank, BUT that tank still needs to be able to hold his tower and not be easily dove.

  4. Mid lane do not push if your laner is not there, unless they are roaming. It does not take long enough to get from fountain to mid lane for it to be worth taking that money and exp from your mid laner.

  5. Bot lane you want to push in almost always. Reason being is they are gank resistant, can do the most damage to their tower, and spend the least amount of time backing. Lets say you got off a gank on bot that sucked and you got nothing really done, More than likely the gank also pushed the wave. If the enemy still has their summs, and your bot lane is pushing towards the enemy, unless they can win the 2v3 you just made them gankable. Its very difficult for them to shove to tower at a disadvantage, so stay and help them push it to tower. If the gank and the enemy gets low, but there's no way to dive them or kill, also push the turr, because they have to back. Your bot lane should be in a good spot to 2v3 if you got them low and/or burned summs, so they are either forced to back and take huge dmg to turr, or more likely stay for the farm, and be unable to trade or be ganked for until they've sustained up and lost alot of farm avoiding trades.

You can try to explain what your intentions are to them.

But as long as you don't flame them back or anything they can report you all they want, you didn't do anything wrong.
