Fiora's walk animation is the doofiest looking thing I've seen in in a game in a while.

She runs like a friend I used to know.

That is, before he learned how to run without bending over double and sticking his feet out behind him like he was trying to kick something. After he just changed to running upright (as in a single day of coaching from our track team) he became almost twice as fast immediately, and was one of our fastest runners from that point on, having been our slowest by a large margin.

The way Fiora runs isn't just goofy, it's unhealthy and inefficient and makes her look like all she does is hunch forward all day.

Based solely on that gif, the run animation looks right anatomically (for prancing). But she's moving way too slow for the distance in her gait.

thats actually how rapier duelist run/walk in real life tho. they were always known for there goofy styles which people call "elegant"

This was my first thought as well when I finally got a chance to play her. I started walking out of the spawn and I just stopped, and commented to my team about how awful her animations look. Everyone on the team had a good laugh at how ridiculous her walk animation looks.

Please change it. It looks goofy right now.

It's not that hard, your basically complaining about them changing Fiora, her w can stun people and prevent you from being knocked up/stunned/snared it blocks a whole lot more then just basic attacks now which is great Now her ulti. I literally can not find out the actual reason why people hate is so if you could, tell me what exactly you don't like about it. And no the reason can't be any where near the whole "Her old ulti was just so much better" bull. I am a fiora main and I feel better about maining her because she takes some actual skill to properly burst down your opponent.... Like real fencing

I like her abilities though, they are interesting.

Because rapier fencing was the dominant 1 versus 1 martial art style for more than 150 years against all forms of melee weapons

To be fair though, most people dueling at that time weren't wearing heavy suits of armor like they were years prior. Getting through Garens armor would be pretty difficult with a long rapier as opposed to a heavy broadsword or an hammer.

But wielding said heavy weapons and heavy armor was why the rapier became a thing. Bigger weapons slowed people down, along with bigger armor of course, so the first course of action was to find a way around. Broadswords came up, then some crazy person picks up a hot poker and jabs it through a heavily armored imbecile moving at a snails pace and thinks "hey...this might work". Or at least, that's what my wild and wacky imagination tells me. ^.^

I'm pretty sure that armor fell out of favor because people realized it was better to equip like 30 guys with weapons than one dude with armor. Also guns started coming into play which invalidated armor entirely. People with armor posessed a tremendous advantage in the fact that they did not need to protect the vast majority of their body, and they could swing their weapons far more recklessly and with more power and not open themselves up to being killed at all.

The rapier was used specifically because it CAN get through armor, while heavier swords can't, and heavy blunt weapons to crush armor are too unwieldy on foot. You've got your causality backwards. Rapiers didn't come into fashion because people stopped wearing heavy armor. People stopped wearing heavy armor because it was worse than useless against rapiers.

You're confusing rapiers with thrusting swords. Rapiers could probably get through chain mail or light armor with a good poke, but they were not durable enough to stab through plate armor practically. There were in fact many thrusting swords designed to punch through plate armor however, but they fell out of use along with armor.

Not to mention using armor in a duel was a bitch move and defeated the entire purpose of the duel. Armor had already fallen out of favor by the time "1v1 rapier duel me" was a thing if I'm not mistaken.

A rapier IS a thrusting sword, and truth be told, the term is somewhat ill-defined. Studying the evolution of these weapons calls to question where the line should be drawn in defining them, and it's difficult to find any sort of consensus on that (mainly because the word wasn't even used by anyone actually making them at the time). But in pop culture, when most people hear "rapier", they imagine something much lighter, like a foil, with extremely light footwork, flick-of-the-wrist swipes, and quick thrusts. A rapier is a heavier weapon than that, the entire concept being that advances in metallurgy allowed for the creation of weapons that were both strong and light (because they were flexible enough not to break or deform when subjected to forces common of heavier weapons). This meant they had more reach than older weapons of the same weight, and were better thrusting weapons because of narrower blades. You wouldn't try to punch through plate with a rapier, but you'd be pretty dumb to try it with an old arming sword, too (which would be thicker, heavier, and shorter). Plate armor does not cover every part of the body. You would go for the joints in the armor, where protection is lighter, and a thin, strong blade can slip in. Before the rapier, if you wanted to get through plate armor, trying to design a sword for it was a bad idea (though it was done). You would need more leverage, and would use a polearm, or crush it with a mace.

Dueling swords evolved out of martial weapons like the spada da lato (Italian: "side-sword"), a predecessor to the rapier or possibly included in the term. And yes, the sort worn by civilians would probably be pretty ineffective against armor, because they took the emphasis on skill and finesse over brute force to an extreme, manifesting in the "small sword" or "court sword", and eventually the foil. But the class of weapon covered by "rapier" includes heavier, martially oriented weapons. Have you seen Fiora's sword? If you're wearing plate armor, she can put that thing in your armpit, no problem. Your chain and padding aren't going to help you, and she doesn't have 50 pounds of steel slowing her down. Wearing armor against a weapon like that wouldn't just be a "bitch move". It would be suicide.
