Brutalitops011 votesHe's not getting a full VGU. I'll tell you that right here. He's getting something in the Diver class update, and he'll be one of the bigger changes. He can't get just straight buffs, however, because his sustain was once so oppressively strong that they had to nerf him into the state he currently is in. I would expect him to lose the Q knockup, but have the damage increased and have the travel time decreased. Also likely is massive changes to the W, E, and possibly an entirely new ultimate. Also, he might have some changes to his passive.
Abandon1 votesIt wasn't his sustain that was oppressive, it was his dueling power when at the time there were not many other strong top lane champions that could guarantee a lvl 2 cheese on most of the top lane roster. 50% attack speed and ranged poke with decent damage was not very common at the time.
I'd prefer if he stayed an auto-reliant melee fighter though but we'll see how it goes.
Brutalitops011 votesI guarantee he will. It's a class size update. Even with full VGU's, they try to keep the same general playstyle. Look at Yorick. Pre-rework, he was an ability-based Juggernaut. After the rework, he's still an ability-based juggernaut, it's just executed in a different, easier to balance way. Riot always tries to make it so that champions they update feel somewhat similar after the update to what they did before the update, even in cases like these where they completely scrap the old kit for something new.

Release Yorick was pretty weak and underwhelming, then after a little while people figured out a certain way to build him and he became a literally unstoppable busted lane bully. If you weren't playing Yorick, and your opponent was, top lane was gone. You get camped? You spoonfeed him double kills. You get 5-man camped? You spoonfeed him pentakills. He would destroy half your team, die, revive from his ultimate, and then destroy the other and spend his next 8 seconds (the revive lasted 10) laughing over your corpses.

Abandon1 votesMaybe I just haven't found the right Yorick players... here in oce I could count the amount of Yoricks I've played against on my hand and none of them went off like you described. I was just making joke about the rework because it just feels overall that reworked Yorick is even weaker than before (although he does seem a lot healthier)... I guess people are still finding out how to play him and what works best so I guess I'll just have to hold my breath on my criticisms about his in game state until people start getting accustomed to him :P
