No valid reason for not having a Sandbox mode

"We don't want players to grind"

This is just so ironic it hurts. It doesn't even make sense. At all.

Grinding = Tedious

Tedious = Having to go and hunt AI champions and minions for at least 20 solid minutes to try something out.

We are asking you for SOMETHING to STOP GRINDING because we DON'T LIKE GRINDING. YOU want us to GRIND because you DON'T want us to "GRIND".

Not to mention it is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL. You aren't FORCING us to "GRIND" it.

There is absolutely no reason for there not to be a sandbox mode, especially in a game that has pretty big learning curve and a VERY basic tutorial.

What is the real reason you wont add it Riot? I am going to take a guess that you simply don't want to put work into something to please the community and greatly improve your player number and happiness.

Uprooted since I see that you have received two downvotes, and let's be completely honest here, that means people will just down vote your post over and over therefore.

On to what you are saying; Yeah I have absolutely no clue why they wouldn't have added a sandbox mode yet; makes no sense to me whatsoever.

No valid reason for not having a Sandbox mode

I can think of a few reasons they aren't thrilled about making a sandbox mode:

  1. it would take a substantial amount of time and money, or resources on Riot's part, to deliver a solid sandbox mode. It's not like a half-inspired mess of a sandbox would be received well, with what the player base expects from Riot: creating a solid, user-friendly, sandbox experience would be a rather resource-heavy endeavor. Not creating a solid one would probably do Riot more harm than good.

  2. server load. I've heard plenty of times it takes roughly the same resources on Riot's part to host a game with 10 people as it does to host a game with 1 person, which creates a rather substantial issue for Riot when Sandbox modes are more of a 1-person deal. It's not exactly a stretch to say they're having a bit of trouble keeping up with current server demands as-is. Which runs even further into Riot's resources.

  3. splitting the player base/queue times. People playing in sandbox mode aren't queuing for a basic game, so Riot could be diverting a lot of their player base into 1 game mode and not the basic game. This is the overwhelming reason most game-modes Riot releases are only open for 1~2 weeks and retired before a new game mode is released.

Don't get me wrong, I'm totally in favor of a Sandbox mode.

But Riot does have a few good reasons to not implement one.

It would simply be a custom match that you can change your gold amount, spawn minions, change your level, etc etc. It isn't another game type.

Oh, that is simply bunk. The most likely reason they won't do anything is because their only focus is eSports.

Massive learning curve would be a game like EvE Online. This game is very easy to get into.

Once someone gets pretty good at the game, they could pretty much play anyone. But to actually learn every effective thing in the game, all the champion combos, mechanics, counters, interesting little tricks isn't something you just get easily. But I do see your point. I will tone it down a bit.

They don't want sandbox mode to become a chore you need to do every time you log in

So you don't end up falling behind everyone else competitively who have the time to spend a couple hours a day practicing
