How do I get out of Silver? Any and all input welcome.

I'm a support main - my adc had 35 cs at 12 minutes and my top lane kench rushed item 3027 and item 3009 then afked in fountain vs a riven. How am I supposed to climb? I really dont understand how to get out of low elo. I watch videos on macro and shotcalling, I sit in practice tool and learn the game mechanics, I memorize vision placement locations, I watch educational games, yet I'm stuck in silver and cant get a team that will listen to my shotcalling. How do I climb out of Silver?

I'm a hardstuck Silver and others will no doubt have better insight, but I've spend the last 3 months tuning my play style in Norms and have been focusing on my own game and not on my teammates whatsoever with much better results, and am currently climbing even despite a negative winrate and net loss in LP gains, I am winning again.

Some basic things I did;

-Mute All/ from the start. There is absolutely zero input your team will have that is useful unless it's a ping. -Do not communicate in any other way but pings -Disable enemy chat, their input does not matter and does not exist -Disable in game announcer. When you get feeding teammates, it just makes me tilt hearing "AN ALLY HAS BEEN SLAIN" over and over. My mental state has nothing but improved since disabling that horrible and constant reminder that I'm winning/losing. I don't even look at scores other than my own.

Some more advanced thins I have done;

-ACTUAL LEE practiced cs'ing in custom games. I can reliably hit 87 cs by 10 min currently against an easy adc bot and moderate enemy support. -Look at the mini map at ALL TIMES unless there is an enemy in front of me. Watch when a lane is missing, watch where junglers last were seen. If there's 3 top, I can pretty much go ham in bot lane and not worry about being ganked, etc. -Ward everything, even when I'm not support. WARD. CONSTANTLY. If ahead? Enemy jungle, if even game, River, If losing, Own jungle. -Build according to how I'm doing. If I'm winning lane, damage, if I'm losing, even as adc, I get some form of tank or sustain with lifesteal or Doran's shield. As Ezreal I can afford to go Iceborne and Hexdrinker with Tabi/merc and still do damage and LIVE. -Never go in if your team isn't right next to you (see mini map and looking only at it).

This is the best advice I've ever heard. Tried it myself a while back, and it works.

Thank you! Funny how I got a down vote immediately. People must not like having solutions to bad teammates.

I wont downvote it. But if you mute all you miss the opportunity to talk down teammates from tilting echother.

If you get tilted easy this is fairly solid thou I still value becoming tilt proof.

If you need help being hard to tilt. http://kayin.moe/iwbtg/ Is an obnoxious game and induces a lot of rage. I cant stress it enough, you wont thank me for this link. Even if you just grab the demo your probably going to hate me for it. Its free thou. If you dont mind dropping some $ you can try Getting over it with Bennet foddy.

I see trying to get between two big babies that are intent on raging at each other as counter productive. Better to ignore them and play your best.

I don't like the free losses by letting them snowball.

Entertainingly enough some times what I have the most success for when stopping team tilt is getting 1 of them to mute the other. [slayer-jinx-wink]

I can face tank some aggro and flame. I main off meta heh. Mute is a good tool for some and pointless for some. Ping communications good.

Honestly If any one who tilts downloads IWBTG I hope they come back here to let me know how much I suck as a human.

I do this more often then I'd like to admit; I'll run behind the enemy mid and try to all in to see that my mid is still sitting under turret at 75% health after I pinged 3 times; my largest issue is watching my mental struggle and feeling powerless to do anything about it; I can ward the enemy jg and secure vision as much as I want, but if my team wants to blindly facecheck the enemy botside jg and die, theres nothing I can do to stop it.

Phieldworker1 votes

The only reason I leave enemy chat on, unless they are just being crazy weird, I can tell when someone is tilting. Then I can mute them and move on. Yesterday had a riven die against me as Kayle and they put stuff in all chat and I knew they would rage and play poorly after that. And they sure did.

Not going to lie but this is going to be easier/harder for some players. For players like me, it's a pretty big time investment. It's definitely worth it if you can put the time into it.

That one game is unwinnable, but if you can't climb out with support it's your own fault. Might be playing too passive or too aggressive. Might not be making correct macro calls or placing wards where the macro should be happening. Could be getting caught out when it could be avoided. It's generally a combination of mistakes.

Recently, I have personally climbed out of Bronze and Silver playing exclusively support.

Lioxim1 votes

My minor positioning mistakes (I do this more often then I'd like to admit) and the occasional geedy vision placement (maybe once every 3 or 4 games I'll do this) is NOTHING compared to the ignorance of the players in Silver. I can secure baron vision and tell them what to do as much as a please, but if they want to sit in a lane and afk farm until 40 minutes theres nothing I can do to stop them - and thats my problem

Ping spam helps. Also showing you're good enough to carry will make people listen to you, albeit not all the time, but you should be winning the majority of your games in Silver if you play well (even if they don't know what macro is).

Kalienor1 votes

Lower your standards. You're thinking too much of what should be done and not enough of what your team can do.

The lower the elo, the lower the cooperation. Take advantage of it by following the best of your mate's plans. It's not as good as having a clean game plan, but at least you're 2 players walking the same road, meaning instead of having 0 cooperation, you have a bit of teamplay. And the difference is HUGE.

Shotcalling doesn't help if nobody's listening. Do what nobody does in this elo: be the one listening to others, and get the upper hand doing this.

I valued hard CC back when I was in silver. Currently playing in silver for Flex to work on Yuumi and its pretty chaotic how mismatched teams can be in the que.

If your not steamrolling games. its a grind. Mitigate a unneeded loss. Try to keep teammates focused on a win or from tilting to badly. If you can maintain a wr over 50% you will slowly gain MMR on your account and then get into a range of play your teammates are slightly better... but your always going to have lost matches or free wins that are low fun.

The best advice I have is try to understand your playpattern well. What do you enjoy and succeed playing. Not just a champion but the style. Aggressive, defensive, OBJ focused. What mechanics come naturally to you. From there you can then start looking at the champions in the game and zero in on the ones who are not just "fun" or "good" but both.

If you play some one well + enjoy it, take losses as part of the package and aim to just self improve off them rather then trip about the RNG. It helps a lot. Tiers are inherently inaccurate measurements because they don't realistically account for System uncertainty on an account. Why the hidden MMR values are used by MM.

But do keep your WR in mind. Keep tabs on games that felt winnable and ones that are just a mismatch. if you constantly lose in what feels winniable, its likely an issue for you rather then RNG teammates.

One challenge I give folks from time to time, Go play a custom game. Fill your enemy team with Advanced ai and your team with beginner Ai. Can you win? If yes. Then Remove 1 bot from your team. make it a 4v5. Can you win?

Its not the best system due to different classes but if your struggling to beat AI when disadvantaged you probably don't have much hope to beat Players when your disadvantaged. Playing from behind and knowing where and how to pull weight is good skill.

adc is probably the worse role to climb in low elo if you're just starting. remember its a 2 man lane.

It depends on the person. There is no ''real'' worst role to climb. In genral, ADC is not that good as jungle or Midlane, but i got out of silver very fast after i swtiched to ADC.

I dont know what you play but:

Nami Thresh are two of the best supps to carry games on your own

Morgana Dominus2 votes

You need to capitalize on the weaknesses of silver players while not making the same mistake they do.

  • They don't ward well. Pick a support that roams well. Blitz, Thresh, Morgana, Bard, Nautilus, Pyke.

  • They can't dodge skill shots. See above

  • They don't know how to use kills to lead to objectives. If at any point you get a kill you need to ask yourself, "What can we do with this?" Almost always backing to spend gold is the wrong answer. Instead you can roam, take dragon, go place a deep ward.

  • They don't know their limits/kill pressure. Use this to your advantage. Know what duels/teamfights you can win. Know the limits of your own character. For example, as a Morgana one trick I know exactly what items I need to fight and kill which champions and how I need to play the teamfight/duel.

Morgana is honestly an excellent champion for this. Her kit has quite a few dueling abilities. Other mages will work too though. Consider Zyra, Brand, Xerath, Velkoz is a fucking monster. Honestly, I don't know how Velkoz hasn't been nerfed. He has like a 55% win rate mid and does absurd levels of damage.

Feel free to add me if you have any questions or anything. I'm not high elo or anything, but I've managed to make it to high plat the last few seasons. My main is Morgana Deus. This is my smurf.

So back story. I finally started playing rank beyond placements about fall 2017 and got to B1. Them last year started S5 and bounced between there and S3. This year started S4 after placements and climbed to G4 so far. It didn’t feel like a hard climb but it definitely tested my skills and such.

The things I did was find ways to improve myself in a solo aspect and in team play. I focused 4 champs (probably still too many and don’t do it if you’re not having fun) and focused on what I should be doing in my role. You pick which role you want to climb in. Find good youtube or streamers to watch and mimic (none of the “omg one shot build what was riot thinking” skip those videos). Mute when someone is becoming too distracting or ragey. The less you type the less likely they will continue. Be ok with losing but make sure you are learning from every match. Don’t be afraid to dodge once a day when someone is going full troll pick in champ select.

TLDR, Watch videos that help you improve, work on those improvements, learn from every match and be ok with not always winning.

So here are just a few pointers:

#1: As long as you aren't trolling, statistically your opponents will have 25% more trolls/afks than your team. This one is just primarily to help your mental game.

#2: Pick a champion/role combination that will allow you to have impact in your most dynamic way. As a support I would play Sona because late game she is literally the most broken champion in League. Once you hit 11 and have your core item 3100 + item 3040 it's literally busted. Alternately, Nautilus Leona Blitzcrank can just make plays for your team for days.(It does require a team though.)

#3: Always try to work with your team. I like to say "Gj bot" or "nj Riv" every single time my team does something good. Literally, this is a HUGE way of getting people to feel positive about themselves and you and then as a result, when you say to "grp mid" then...all of a sudden people are literally 3x as likely to actually follow your call.(also, whenever someone says a negative comment that is out of place, literally instantly mute them. No exceptions. There is literally NO reason to hear a teammate when they are upset, it's not worth potentially hurting your own mental state because of someone else's poor mental state.)

#4: Bounties are literally super dumb right now. So always let your team know when their is a large bounty on an enemy. Cashing in on bounties is just awesome for comebacks these days.

#5: No lead is too big to throw in SoloQ. Never surrender except for your own mental state.

Good luck in the climb.

Your statistics are off. You also need to factor in the probability of getting trolls to begin with. a flat 25% only makes sense in the world where everyone is trolling when they arent. You also need to factor in getting your role, the amount of impact your role has into matchups as well.

I mean that goes for any new champion in the lane they go to, i still remember when gnar came out. What does that actually have to do with the average statistics. Things will normalize back to the way they were in less than a couple weeks.

Malix Farwin1 votes

You stop playing after 2 losses in a row and when you do play, you pray for a lucky winning streak.

Linna Excel1 votes

Play a support that can blow things up and has CC. So Zyra, Lux, Morgana.

Also, you can't blame your lack of climbing on teammates. Every elo will have teammates that need to be carried. Teammates are not an excuse for not climbing.

Craft Zeppelin1 votes

When you get a lead or pushed your wave, ward their jungle. Not your nearby bush. Cover more territory and establish safety and plan your offensive. Ward crossroad centerpoints rather than bushes since it would cover more vision. Always secure river vision.

lolipopevelynn1 votes

Ur prob not gonna get out if silver as a support unless u duo. If you must support your best bet is to hyper roam and get lanes fed. Act as a second jungler basically. You can roam on almost any support but some work better than others. Make sure tho that you have hard cc on whoever you roam with.

You cant babysit your bad adc all day.
