Hardstuck Silver Support Main, Please Send Help....

I was P4 during Season 7, after getting back into the game and trying my hardest, my games feel 100% out of my control. I shotcall and no one listens, they all think they know best. It seems like every game one of the other players goes like 1/11/4 and theres nothing I can do about it. Does anyone have ANY tips at all to get out of this hell?

P.S. My play might not be perfect, but my play is definitely not at the level of these lovely people that go afk and feed in my games. I just don't know what to do anymore.

Get someone who's good to play with you SoloQ as support sucks

If at all possible I want to try to climb on my own, any tips at all are appreciated.

And yes, I agree, it sucks very very much.

Well start playing brand support and build full pen, then try to proc ur passive. That way you will deal the damage that your 1/11/4 teamate didnt do and help adc get out of laning phase at decent state item-wise and cs-wise

You won't be able to climb on your own if you play regular support champions. And if you play stuff like Brand, you get to the point where you have to question who the support is sometimes. Then you have to wonder, why bother playing support?

Bot lane requires two players who work together and are similar in skill. You can't do it solo without getting very frustrated, and almost always losing against a true duo. If you want a solo experience, go mid or literally any other lane that doesn't constantly depend on another player.

I'm a support main btw, and I've tried both doing it solo and with a friend. Solo support is awful and will always be that way just because of the fundamental requirements for a successful bot lane.

So does SoloQ as an ADC.

It's not just ADC's who can be bad, it's the supports as well.

Sadly if you want to play ranked solo then play Mid or Jungle.

The 2 roles who can decide a game single handed.

If you're a support main, it means you're probably good at macro decisions (not satyrical huh), try either playing a solo-carry jungler instead like MasterYi or play a mage bot instead of an enchanter (also looking at your match history quickly, I notice that you mostly play Karma, she's trash atm and if you want to stick to an enchanter, go for Nami )

Lioxim3 votes

I do play a lot of Nami, I used to one-trick her. I just hate taking her in solo q. While playing Karma I can at least build spell pen and damage so I can at least try to accomplish something. As Nami she just doesnt do damage, so I need to put faith in my teamates to make smart plays since I cant do damage on my own. Plus roaming and getting picks mid is way easier to do with Karma (just talking about solo q right now, when doing a duo I can at least trust one person and feel comfortable going Nami).

Yeah tbh don't play an enchanter in solo Q, go for a mage like Brand or Lux

Do you honestly think it would be just better to give up my morals and just buy Evelynn till I climb back to plat? I havent jungled a day in my life before, but since I track the enemy jg and secure vision anyway, it cant be that bad right?

Yeah, and it's kinda what Eve does anyway. If you're not comfortable with her, you can also go with Khazix or Elise But yeah in Silver, support isn't really good unless you have a consistent duo

Brand is just about the only non tank worth playing atm IMHO.

At least in silver.

In silver you are ALWAYS going to have some fed assassin mercing your ADC anyway.

As already said just pick Brand and it is very easy to climb. I used to be hardstuck, till otped Brand.

As for shotcalls, it depends how you do it, my shotcalls were followed 80% of the time. Shotcalls shouldn't be like: "just farm up", "we scale"," please group", or even worse "stop feeding X champion and we win". These calls are so common, that nobody gives a fck about it, because many people just use thsese without understanding game situation and having plan in their mind. Shotcalls should be very short, intensive, simple and moment based and you should use pings almost every time and the whole game, and if possible avoid buddy-talk (toxicity of course must not be in place at all). This will bring more value in your words, as people know you can be trusted. The only thing that can break it is obviously bad calls, you lose trust with bad calls. 2-3 is enough not to listen to you for the rest of the game, so know what you shotcalling.

moment based-- it is right here, right now, eg intensive pinging on baron (direction or assisstance ping) , on dragon, on lane, "5 mid" follwing with intensive pinging. buddy talk -- any chatting, gj/u2 is fine but limit to this

Lioxim4 votes

I try to make objective calls, or to tell people to slow push x wave so we can group at y location, or while in lane to not push the wave when we can freeze, yet id say 9/10 they go unanswered. In my personal experience, people just wont listen. I personally feel my understanding of the game is deep. I can track the enemy JG, I secure deep vision and be sure to ping for my team when the enemy jg pops up. It just feels that no matter what I do, I just have 0 impact on my games.

I do appreciate the help tho, and from the consensus on this post, I am definitely just going to start playing Brand

FullmuteAll play1 votes

It is useless to try to explain anything to soloQ player or ask for stuff like wave management/map control. All you can ask them for is go here, go there, kill this. That's it. As I said your** shotcalls should be effective moment based**, not long/medium-term calls. I have some experience shotcalling in SoloQ, I also tried to ask for stuff like freezing lanes, watching out for assassins, focusing X champion, going 1-4-0 and stuff like this. It is just useless, players have fish memory, all they can follow is immediate calls with possibly immediate effect. That's it. Once I acquired such manner of shotcalling and feeling of good moments. I was able to manage my team. And yeah just pick Brand for climb, if you learn to land stuns, you are gucci.

Leto GT2 votes

It may be rough to hear but switch to another role and get back to supp once you've reached High gold or plat. Before that elo, adc don't really understand match up and basic stuff like lvl2, building waves and freezing. Otherwise, you can spam brand or sona which can carry super hard. Brand can legit 1v9 and destroy botlanes. Sona can destroy botlane too but wont oneshot everything like brand does.

Bob the Toastr2 votes

You should either find a good ADC to duo with or try mage supports that have the potential to carry. Examples include: Brand Fiddlesticks Lux Sona Veigar Velkoz

Just a suggestion.

Stop playing support.

Unless you're duoing with a smurf you shouldn't play support till at least plat if you want to have control in your games.

What kind of support do you play ?

if you play an enchanter : try to play around the one mate that is the most fed in your team. he will do much more, ennemies will try to focus him down, and the rest of your team has more air to play. If no one in your team seems fed enough and they're all at the same spot, then switch your focus to one ennemy. Imagine you are Janna, and they got an irelia, your job is to fuck her up with tornados and ult. Focusing only 1 ennemy is easier to do, and you really can negate her entirely.

if you play an engager/roamer : try to do intelligent roams, and go for free kills (there are more than you would expect). Always engage 3v2's or 4v3's, things like that

Most importantly, get vision control around places you know a fight will occur. dont hesistate buying control wards, and if you are full stuff, don't buy a 6th item, rather 3 item 2055 . Vision allows you to know when a move is free, if you know where their jungler is when you start engaging, etc.

Try running Exhaust instead of Ignite. Low elo soloqs often have one really fed dude, that gets completely shut down by exhaust. Everyone is playing Ignite atm, so most people forget about exhaust and mindlessly go in, but get denied so hard.

and finally : always be positive, always say "gj" when a good move happens. Psychology is more than opie op in this game (:

hope this will help !

Just got out of silver with a near perfect win rate only playing Thresh support. Started at silver 2, lost 3 times, 2 in my promos and one while climbing, then lost 1 more in silver 1 during promos and that was it. I have a near 80% win rate and climbed within 15 games. However, I had absolutely no control over any of these games. People just won lanes or they didn't, I just made sure to do my best and get my lane fed. If I have any advice for you, it's to just keep playing what you know how to play and if you do well enough hopefully you will climb till you get to a rank that doesn't have as many monkeys. Ranked is a flip of a coin, best bet is to keep flipping it till it lands in your favor and you move up.

Play brand support. Works every time.

Support main here. You will not climb playing Nami in SoloQ in low silver. Probably not most support champions if you are playing for the ADC.

Just switch your role tbh. If you're actually a Plat player, you can play ADC/jungle at a mid-gold level and easily climb to Gold. From there you can probably resume playing support.

Honestly Lioxim, tell me what times you play and we might be able to duo in ranked occasionally.

However, I'm rusty at ADC and haven't played in a while so I might need to adjust a little bit to the new meta.

(I used to play Vayne and Caitlyn, and from what I hear they've gone into the gutter)

I agree that it's not the best idea to try to climb out of Silver as a support. I only just recently committed to ranked for the first time since season 4 and got out by practically one-tricking Morgana support, and my experience with other roles is very limited in recent years, so feel free to disregard my advice.

If you wish to remain support, you need to change up your champ picks. The reason for this is that Nami's bubble is crucial and there is a lot of mobility in the game. I don't know how accurate you are with hitting it, but the higher you climb the better people will be at dodging it. If you insist on continuing to main her, there are tricks to make it easier to land if you want to use it offensively that you can look into. You'll also want to hold onto it and only use it when you're sure you can hit, as throwing it out arbitrarily and missing will leave you vulnerable. Otherwise, post laning phase you'll want to be peel/disengage for your carries. Don't play Nami like me and get in the other team's face. Stay behind your carries and heal and peel.

If you are okay with changing up your support pick, as many have mentioned Brand is a solid pick. He is, however, banned often (at least in my experiences from Silver II- Gold V), so you might be better off choosing someone else. I'd recommend shooting for simplicity and reliability of kit, such as Alistar or Leona (though you'll still be relying on your team with these picks).

If you're willing to switch up your role, I would recommend sticking to simple and reliable as I mentioned a second ago. Garen top is an absolute menace while being easy to play. Annie mid can work. She has a farming tool, a relatively simple kit, and reliable burst damage. Malzahar is also a good option due to his ult, but choose your targets carefully. For jungle, I've found success (in normal games) with Rammus. He's got relatively easy patterns and solid ganks. With that said, I've heard multiple players say in the past that champions like Master Yi are very solid carries at this level, but I've never tried him outside of ARAM.

Many people here have gone along the lines of 'Don't play Support' or 'Pretend you're a Midlaner' and this is certainly valid advice.

I took a different route; I started running Lux as an OTP, but with a ridiculous healing/shielding focus: item 3117 item 3165 item 3092 item 3174 item 3107 and either item 3157 or item 3102

With that and Aery combo'd with Font of Life + Revitalise you can shield an entire team for an ADC-worth of health, heal, keep a slow-zone up permanently and root 2 people every 6s, all whilst staying out of most harm's way.

Riot have been going further and further into Team Death Match gameplay, and it has made Supporting far less enjoyable, and far less viable outside of organised play.

Stop playing support , and play a god tier jungler or midlaner . you'll climb in no time .

Stop playing supp, really, is imposible to carry as supp

Wilyum1 votes

When playing support you have to force your team to get kills. Force them into plays. Either that or play a carry and a different role

Did you by any chance duo last season? ;)
