Season 5 Jungle

Who does it actually benefit? Early S4 I mained Kha'Zix. I was a beginner, but learned fast and went in silver. Then mid S4, Riot decided that assassins were too strong, so they nerfed them in favor of tanks. I never agreed with the change or liked it, but I got over it and started playing mainly Nautilus jungle. With Nautilus, I climbed to almost Gold 4 by the season end and had a win rate of 76% on him on more than 80 games played. Then new jungle came along and... who does it actually benefit? It broke the entire environment. Every patch there will be a different batch of perma-ban broken junglers than will get nerfed instantly next patch. And I honestly for the life of me cannot find ANY jungler (except the perma ban ones, but can never play them cause, well, they are banned) with whom I can perform anywhere close to what I was used to last season.

I mean, I like the added variety in the camp buffs. But honestly right now, jungle is not a carrying role at all, unless the enemy team is EXTREMELY stupid and stays overextended the whole game. It just does not feel right anymore. And there is no improvement in champion variety, wich is what they were supposedly aiming for. The big jungle change was just a big nerf to everyone who liked to jungle. Neither tanks or assassins are strong now. Literally nobody got anything good out of the change. Most junglers fell into unviable state while the ones that benefitted from the change were individually nerfed to match everyone else's unviability.

A lot of people say it's ok. I mean yeah, it is not completely useless, but it's not a reliable role anymore. If the rest of your team does bad, you simply won't be able to help it. And I would like to see Riot doing something about it. They seemed to acknowledge the fact that the jungle wasn't very healthy for a few patches after the big change, but then they just kinda stopped even talking about it. They just nerf the broken people that spring up after changes, and not say anything else about the issue. I don't know if they are just being quiet before some other major rework or if they just plain out decided to leave it as-is and ignore the obvious problems with it.

I want to be able to reliably carry from the jungle again. Right now I'm trying to learn mid. But I still hope that some day they will address the jungle and make it fun and viable again.

TL;DR: the S5 jungle change made jungling worse for pretty much every jungler, except a few that became broken and got promptly nerfed. Right now the jungle is not very viable, but it's not getting talked about by Riot, and I hope they actually do something about it.

To be fair, the new jungle greatly benefits sustain junglers over the old jungle.

Season 4 jungle gave everyone massive amounts of sustain tools so that everyone could jungle, so anyone who already had a lot of sustain were terrible because everyone else had comparable sustain.

Season 5 jungle made the jungle harder from the standpoint of having weaker sustain items and harder monster camps, so sustain heavy junglers are a lot stronger because their sustain actually matters.

There are also a lot of other things that are dramatically better with the new jungle, such as Scuttle Crab and Raptor buff both enabling junglers to be able to gank a lot more, the jungle items enabling a lot of different jungle playstyles to be relevant (except counterjungling, because frankly, Poacher's Knife sucks), even if your champion can't normally gank (ie. Warwick can gank pre 6 now!), while still offering new late game fantasies for junglers with stuff like Gromp buff and Cinderhulk.

There's a lot when the Season 5 jungle first came out that was absolutely atrocious, such as the jungle being obscenely hard while a lot of tools that junglers had were getting nerfed patch after patch, but now the jungle is in a pretty good spot, with the exception of a few outliers.

Not sure about YoloQ right now. Seems awkward that Jungle is not a carry role and yet draws that many permabans.

The most Obvious candidate is Gragas. He's considered to be the Lee sin of the Tank meta. The other one that is popular in the LCS is Rek'sai, despite all of her dueling nerfs, she's still popular because of her global pressure.

The strong carry Jungler might be Eveline. Despite not clearing camps real quickly or safely, she has tons of pressure with her stealth. If you want to carry as a Jungler you want to gank early, gank reliably, and gank hard. getting your lanes snowballing is the best way for a Jungler to carry the game.

"I want to carry"

Cant you just accept that this is a TEAM game, and if no champ type are defined as OP by the community, it might be a proof that the jungle is a nicely balanced as it can be? I main jungle, and I play both AP Jungle, AD, jungle and Tank jungle roles. They all work nicely depending on the team comp and the enemy team comp.

Stop running around thinking you should carry all the games, cause that's not what this game is about..

I accept that it is a team game, but I also know that if I don't go into it with the ability to make up for at least two people that are terrible at the game, I will not climb at all, or so slowly that it will take me ten years to get to next tier.

SoloQ is most of the time a situation where you get people in your team that are just completely useless if not actually damaging. So if you want to have a reliably high win rate, I'm talking at least 60% or more, you need to be the one that does most of the work, because often enough the other people that are supposed to do their part of the work, won't do it.

So pretty much either you carry, or if you don't it's just a lottery of who you get in your team and who you get in the enemy team. And it won't take you far.

I honestly like S5 jungle better than the last three seasons but that's just me. I think it has a lot more interesting dynamics now.

It does have more interesting dynamics. But it is overall a lot weaker than it used to be... and I don't like that because it makes it very hard for me to keep climbing as I was last season.
