So can someone clear this up for me in regards to the rise of assassins?

Fizz - Fizz hasn't really changed much since like, what, S2? Nobody was complaining about his E that much until recently. He still has the insane mobility and capability to burst squishies and mages to shreds as he did before, yet only NOW people in this board are complaining about it?

Akali - Again, what changed about Akali, too? She can still be shut down early on provided you play aggressively against her, or pick a bruiser instead of a squishy so that you won't get burst down so hard. Like... In ranked she was considered nothing but a pubstomper, and now she's a top ban?

Katarina - I am AMAZED people in at least Silver are scared of Katarina. Considering how just about every team comes with some form of CC, and she's not much different now from her kit rework way back when, it's honestly not hard to play against her provided you don't let her get fed.

I just don't get it, guys. Why has it taken 'till 2015 for people to start branding these stagnant champions as "OP"? It's not like their counters are virtually non-existent.

The main reason is map control. Season 4 had a lot of stall/scale compositions so you didn't really care as much about dragon control, and baron was easy to contest no matter what composition because he was so difficult to kill.

In season 5 turtling was nerfed hard with the mana regeneration changes. Furthermore the dragon has become far more important. So just sitting under a tower safely while you scale is no longer an option. Assassins give more map control than any other class because of their ability to kill quickly and escape before people can collapse on you.

Fizz got nerfed at the end of season 3 and Liche Bane was nerfed a bit early season 4. So actually, he's only seen nerfs.

Akali and Kat are manaless, now that mana is harder to come by their early game got buffed slightly which was where they were most vulnerable.

For whatever reason, players don't like leaving the lane when it's not pushed and also don't want to back before they've gotten their items. So they feel pressured to either last hit under tower with no mana or pressure to win their lane by killing their lane opponent so they can back. These playstyles give assassins a huge buff, when in reality, fizz is exactly the same and Akali/Kat only have slightly better laning phases.
