Is the Jungle Role Becoming Unfun?
First, I want to establish that this is not a typical QQ thread about how the new jungle sucks. I actually LIKE the ideas presented in this season's jungle. It gave each camp a purpose, and allowed for different styles of play depending on what camp you want to smite and so on. Even though it eases early-game ganking, I'm not bothered by it. The constant pressure of junglers in the past was annoying in my opinion, so hell yeah!
What's bothering me about it, however, is the factor of fun. In my opinion, Jungling has turned into such a high-stakes role that's worse than being an AD Carry, where the moment you make one mistake will cost you the entire game. Counter-jungling is probably even more important in this season because of that. You get a kill off them, and they'll be well behind.
Another is the pool of champions who can viably jungle. It seems like everyone will go with either Reksai, Lee, Pantheon or Warwick. I guess it's always been like this, but it kind of feels like some of the "slower" junglers and tanks have taken a massive blow in favor of the linear "super aggressive sustain bruisers." It probably isn't as big of a deal as I'm making it out to be, but diversity of junglers seem to be shrinking a little bit.
I could be way off, but I think what I mentioned above is slowly turning the Jungle into an overly-complicated, high stakes mess that isn't as fun to play as it should. If that's not the case, then why is it so hard to find a jungler in team builder? Why are people literally admitting fear of the jungle in Draft Pick? I'd love to hear the community's thoughts on this.
