Lux > Viktor?

Viktor sees LCS plays yet it seems that Lux is just better.

Survivability/Self-Peel Viktor deals more damage late game (in theory) but cannot self-peel with W even a quarter as effectively as Lux with her Q. He's much more likely to be rapidly deleted in a team fight. It doesn't matter how HIGH Viktor's AP is on paper if he's just gonna get instal-bursted by an unfed Kha without any ability to defend himself in the late game. Lux's Q is way more reliable than Viktor's W defensively... I cannot tell you how many times people have simply Flashed or Dashed past Viktor's W to kill you anyways. Try that against Light Binding...

Lux's Ult > Viktor's Ult Viktor's Ult is clunky as hell to control, its short-ranged, and the damage is not instantaneous. Unless the enemy is held down by other CC, more often than not people just Flash out of it. More often than not, its a half-assed Execute that doesn't even work that well. The Ult is ultimate trash until you get Rylais and even if you have it... nothing to stop people from simply Flashing out of it. ****Meanwhile, Lux's R has much shorter cool downs, way more range, way easier to use, and does more most of the time. Its instantaneous too. BOOM. No awkward Chaos Storm to micro and bug up... you just point and BOOM.

Poke Lux has better poke. Viktor's E does more damage but only if BOTH parts of his E land on multiple enemies; no one is going to stay there for that to happen, Rylais or no Rylais. Meanwhile, Lux goes E... BAM!

Build Flexibility Lux is more flexible. Viktor needs to upgrade his Core and he needs to have Rylais to be of any use. Meanwhile, Lux can afford to do different types of builds depending on the situation (ex going Abyssal or Zhonya is certain situations). Any deviation from Core + Rylais for Viktor severely impacts the usefulness of his abilities.

** Number of usable abilities** All 4 of Lux's abilities are useful at all stages of the game. Viktor's R is utter trash without Rylais (and people can still Flash out of it with Rylais)... Viktor's W is no use offensively... Viktor's Es and Qs rely on upgrades. So most of the early and mid game, Viktor basically only has 2 useful abilities compared to all of Lux's.

Lux has way more utility This one is obvious. She can slow, she can shield, and she can bind. Viktor? The only CC he has is his W and its basically useless offensively (and defensively, its buggy and unreliable as hell).

So why is Viktor played so much?

Isn't he basically a worse, clunkier, more short-ranged version of Lux?

I honestly don't know how to respond. I really don't want to be rude, honestly, but... you're wrong on almost all points and Viktor does most of these things better than Lux does.

I know it's really cocky but it's simply why Viktor is picked and played so much more.

Would you rather have Viktor's W or Lux's Q?

Would you rather have Chaos Storm or Final Spark?

Would you rather have Viktor's E or Lux's E?

I think I'd rather take Lux's abilities on all of the above.

I don't think personal playstyle and ability preference has anything to do with champion strength. I personally dislike playing Lux and love playing Ahri, and for other mages players, that's the complete opposite.

How though?

People simply Flash out of his Ult?

His W is completely useless offensively and its iffy defensively while Lux's Q excels at both with just a bit of practice. Lux's Ult is way more overpowered and its much easier to land a full rotation of spells with Lux than it is with Vik.

Viktor can have all the damage he wants on paper in the late game but he still gets Insta-deleted without reliable self-peel... plus his abilities have a delayed impact on the game due to their reliance on Hex upgrades (while from level 6 onwards and immediately, Lux is a God).

Okay I am done with this. You want to know why Viktor is good?

He's super safe, trades very well in lane, does a FUCK ton of damage, has an AoE zone control tool that fucks over engage comps and makes objective play amazing, bursts entire teams down with his AoE, fucks tanks and squishies alike with his magic pen, and has a very reliable speed boost. Not to even mention the raw stats he gets he gets from his hextech item that were key in the mage rework, and does more damage than Lux at all stages of the game.

Viktor is still better in soloq.

Ive played both of these champs many times. And i must completely agree with this assessment. In my oppinion lux is all around better then Viktor. Lets Not forget that lux's passive combined with thunderlords adds even more to damage to her kit.

Lux and Viktor don't fill the same roles.

Viktor has much more AOE damage against teams with decent positioning, duels better and his AOE stun can stun multiple people and isn't a skillshot. In addition, you cannot escape it being dropped on top of you without dashes, making it an amazing followup ability to even soft CC, unlike Lux Q which has a tiny hitbox, is blocked by minions and can miss. Dropping W on yourself, Viktor can't be touched by melees, but all a melee has to do is watch for Lux's cast animation where she raises her want then just flash behind her. Remember, you're asking about LCS players. You don't have these mechanics, they do. Shit, even many plats do - flashing enemy cast animations is a key part of playing assassins. Lux E cannot even clear a wave by itself until she has significant AP. Being forced to actually last hit is terrible and especially on such a mana intensive spell. Lux R will never hit more than 2 people outside of low plat.

There's a reason that LCS players use Viktor and not Lux.

Have you changed your mind on this at all yet or no?

Why would I?

Lux's Q is way more useful both offensively and defensively. Viktor can SITUATIONALLY get more people with his W but it relies on other people landing CC first and in those scenarios, Lux can also land her Q. The overall reliability of Light Binding both as self-peel and as an offensive weapon is just better.

Viktor's R does a ton of damage on paper but none of that matters because the minute I see Vik on the ennemy team, I'm going to save my Flash for when he uses it. And as an ADC or a Mid I'll Flash out of it almost every time. Rylais or no Rylais, one Flash and you're out, the most that can happen is you get hit by 1 tick.

Lux's R on the other hand? It's spammable waveclear (at less than 30 second cooldown with 45% CDR); its way more ranged (allowing for snipes and for long range fire) and most importantly, its almost completely INSTANTANEOUS. You don't have to land several ticks of it or Micro it very awkwardly and pray that people don't Flash out of it for it to do anything.

Viktor's E? Theoretically more damage but then again, why would anyone stay around for your Aftershock to hit anything? It's much easier to land a Lux E and follow up on it (the hit box is huge) then it is to get the Aftershock combo off. The hitbox is key too. Viktor's E theoretically has a long range but hitting it at a target really far away requires pinpoint accuracy when aiming E... meanwhile Lux can just effortlessly lob E over and over again and deal AOE. No delayed damage, its all instant.

These are good arguments for why Viktor is not a good duelist but no one talks about Viktor's dueling capabilities, they talk about how he'll melt your team mid and late game.

WitchQueen Annie1 votes

Viktor can't melt the whole team unless the whole team is stupid enough to walk into his W and then stand there without Flashing as they get hit by Chaos Storm's multiple ticks and E's aftershock.

Late game he has very high AP on paper but it doesn't matter because he can't stop anyone who closes the gap with him from instantly deleting him.

His W just isn't reliable enough compared to a Lux Q for self peel.

Lux has less damage on paper but a much greater probability and ease of landing it against a competent team.

In your ideal situations with Vik (where somehow they are clustered together, someone else CCed a key target first, and then Viktor can melt everyone) Lux does marginally worse with her Q, E + R combo. The overall reliability of her kit at all stages in the game more than compensates for it.

Oscar of Astora1 votes

Yes..once again Viktor is not known for 1v5ing the enemy but for his teamfighting capabilities where his team can help setup his combo. If you go to op.gg and look at diamond games where you'd expect people to not be "stupid enough" to eat viktor's combo, you'll see that viktor has a 50% win rate and lux has 47%. Now either you've changed your mind to the hard facts or you're going to keep sticking to your expert silver opinions, either way this conversation is wrapped up.

WitchQueen Annie1 votes

Well the difference between 50% and 47% isn't all that significant. It could well be to a self-reinforcing cycle of bias (ex... people are told Viktor is pro and so the best players in League, the most competitive and dedicated players, tend to focus on a champ they perceive to win...)

So you've Lux who is a better champ on paper (you have EVERY advantage Viktor has plus range, more reliable self-peel, much more reliable utility in the form of the shield)... but who gets played by less dedicated players than those who main Vik... dedicated and try hard players tend to be drawn to those characters who are considered top tier, even if it doesn't make much sense.

WitchQueen Annie1 votes

I'm also not quite sure why Viktor is considered "the best Mid Lane champ" when Vladimir is easier to play, more effective at dealing AOE damage, actually has a proper escape, AND is tanky.

Who cares if Vik can clear a minion wave with his E in the mid game? Vlad has free spammable waveclear around the same level and it actually doesn't cost ANY mana (so it's actually spammable).

I'd also rather land a Hemoplague on 4 people then land a Chaos Storm on 4 people (people are simply going to flash away before the tick even lands).
