Shaco mini rework idea

So shaco needs a rework that makes him able to function more effectively late game without making him overly oppressive as he currently is early game, so here is my idea

Passive -back stab when shaco is attacking a target from behind he slows them by 15/20/25/30% decaying over 2 seconds (this slow stacks up to 2 times) and if it is a non champion he deals 20% additional damage to them if he hits them from behind (upgrades at lvl 1/6/11/16)

Q would remain the same with one exception -if shaco is in combat when he uses Q he will stealth .25 seconds after his jump, giving the enemy a clue as to where he jumped to and where he is going

W remains heavily the same in design but now has a charge system to it and shaco boxes now have 6 hp similar to Zyra plants, but take 2 damage per enemy champion attack (no more instant dead boxes from aoe dealing >150 damage)

Example of charge system CD is 5 seconds with a 15 second CDd recharge time (CDR effects CD and recharge time) Boxes now last for 60 seconds (no change here) but exspire twice as fast if shaco is not nearby

Charges stack up to 1/2/3/4/5 based on W lvl -this change has little effect on his early game but let's him use boxes as a part of his kit later on and makes W less of a 1 point wonder due to E new interaction

E would Be similar in it being a single target click spell with damage and AP+ad scaling but it now applies the slow from his passive and when shaco or his clone AAs the select target the CD on W (CD not recharge) is refreshed and the box arms instantly

R would remain the same with a few small changes

If shaco E the clone will E but deal 0 damage but it will apply the second stack of his passive

If shaco W near the clone the clone will also do the box drop animation if where shaco dropped the box is in range of the clone as if it was using W

The clone will not Q

Ah so what you're saying is give shaco a 60% perma slow if you're trying to run from him. I like it, follows the lack of counter play theme season 6 has introduced.

If he catches you out, yes

In a team fight it won't be very useful due to CC and peel

And he won't deal much damage unless he built for damage

It also opens up using his boxes in combat late game and makes the clone more "visual" in shaco's spells

It's a way of rebalancing him to carry over to late game with more CC, he also lot the 20% bonus damage to champions when striking them from behind

I did change it to a decaying slow though as that was my original intent

You only stay slowed if he isn't peeled off of you

So essentially shaco has the exact same issues. Late game he will be able to assassinate most squishes with ease if caught out, but in team fights he will tear like wet paper.

He will have more in demand CC with instant arming boxes with the E interaction

And boxes survive longer due to how thier HP is being. Changed

Add in the clone mimicking shaco's E and W to add more deception

The charge system on boxes let's shaco use them more actively in a fight

His Q change was to add some counter play of him being visable if he Q while in a fight but only long enough to see where he jumped to

The idea is with Ws interaction with E and how R now will try to mimic his W and E shaco is even more so about being a master of mind games

I've used shaco's R before and had my clone run while I AAed their carry, they thought I was the clone and as they chased clone I whittled down adc and killed him

Shaco's playstyle IS mind games similar to LB clone

Did you know shaco can jump in with Q use R and the real one stays invis?

Mind games are how you should play shaco because if they burn thier CDs on clone, you have free rein from not being CCed

As Morgana support I've shielded the clone before of another shaco and they focused his clone

It's all about the mind games

:D

shaco should never be building full damage

For example black clever is decent on AD shaco, the CDR and HP help him survive and make his clone survive longer

Shaco isn't supposed to be great at everything in one game, if he builds full damage he should pop

If he builds bruiser he can last a bit

If he builds CDR AP he is annoying to fight and does decent pole and clone explosion damage (my favorite build)

If he builds tank CDR he is CC heavy for kite encounters with his clone

He has many play styles, all of them involve mind games

But there's no mind games here. You can't just slap on the term mind games and have it be correct. Shaco is already about mind games with his Kit, but that's because as a champion, he is innately weaker than most other champions head on. Your additions don't really change anything about how he'll be played. All it'll do is make his gank terrifying and have no counterplay. Just Q in, auto attack and perma slow as the laner and you beat them to death. Having his clone replicate all abilities would be OP unless the abilities were just fakes and did nothing, except s soon as fake E hits and the enemy takes no damage. . .uh oh, that's not the real shaco. Easily done.

Shaco actually does not have many -viable- play styles. Tank shaco is an utter fail. He is literally a tickle cannon with no innate tanky abilities so he'll still melt. Bruiser will still be melted while doing good damage, but not enough to outperform other mobile bruisers. AP is a gimmick that has almost no team fight utility besides a suicide clone, unless you mean to bait them into a trap but we have Teemo who can do that 20x better. Putting on a black cleaver won't keep Shaco from getting 3 shot.

Overall, Shaco may get an overhaul but these proposed changes are a good way of making him release Xin Zhao.

this doesn't solve any of the problems he has and just exacerbates the ones he does

It gives counter play and at the same time takes it away with changes to boxes and letting an instant box with the E interaction

It also lets him use boxes in combat more, with 45% CDR box CD would be 2.25 seconds with a recharge time being separate

It makes his boxes a more I trilogy part of his kit, offering more CC and more reliability because they aren't dead in 1 aoe attack because they take at least 3 hits to kill from champions (6 from anything else)

i don't get how this makes him stronger, as I'm assuming the passive has a cooldown.

No CD, it's a short duration decaying slow his power comes from boxes being more reliable and useable in combat

So give him a perma slow, get rid of 50% of his outplay potential, and make his clone near impossible to decide which is which. I'm a shaco main and this is not a good idea. It's essentially making him broken while taking out the things that all shaco players love, his Q.
