Ever since Patch 6.9 I've been spamming this item on most mages I play. I find the new "Awe" passive is absolutely incredible; it makes it so that mana-hungry champions (like Xerath) hardly even have mana problems. However, in most of my games I almost never see this item. Is there a downside that Im not noticing? Thanks! ^.^

xMichaelx35 votesI think the downside is the time it takes to full stack... maybe some people have no patience. Personally, I go for archangels when I want to spam the hell out of my AP champ abilities.

You can also buy both for maximum spell-spamming.

That downside is called opportunity cost or buyer's remorse.
The item gains value over it's lifetime through using it, an excellent mechanic but also one that makes it compete against the rest of the early purchase needs.
Most of my champion mana shortages occur during the early levels and cease during the late levels, so I don't need a late-game mana item.
Very Hard Engage1 votesi go tear -> morello -> rab cap -> AA on veigar and i usually break 800 AP with those 3 items combined.
ever since the morello changes theres no reason not to get both of them, AA ends up giving a bonus of like +72AP
the main issue with AA is that its a poor standalone item, it gives mana and AP but there are other items which are better on AP, so the mana portion lets you stay in lane longer, but by the time you fully activate it you dont need to stay in lane forever anymore.... the other issue is that since theres no CDR on it it doesnt enable lots of casts, making it a sub par rush item.
