Let's compromise
Runes for the vets: 50% refund value?
Runes for the vets: 50% refund value?

Would just mean more expensive stuff in the BE market. As a veteran with a ton of ip floating, I would much prefer the current low refund and low BE market prices.
Well many of us who are fired up do not have that kind of IP floating around. That's why we're speaking up. Besides, you'd have even more. Why would you be against that?

Because more refund means larger prices on the BE market. Riot is already giving newer players a ton of free champions. The least they can do for vets is keep the BE market items low which means lower rune refund.
You have to realize that the total amount of free stuff we are getting will be the same. Changing refund on runes just means we can buy less with the IP we are floating.
So they're catering to the new players while giving the older ones the bird. Loyalty gets you nothing in this world anymore, does it?

Except the lower refund specifically does cater to old players. The lower rune refund means riot is giving away less free champions and therefore can afford to give away more skins to old players.
Again, you have to realize that the total amount of free stuff we get will be the same. By giving lower refunds, riot can give old players better rewards on the BE skin market.
So instead of $20 for a skin, I only need to pay $18? I'm sold.

You don't need to pay for anything from the BE market at the moment. However, if riot were to increase the refund, that may force them to charge veterans money for BE market items instead of just giving it to them free like they are now.
Wait, they're going to just hand them out to veterans? There's no way. They're too cheap to do that.

I don't play as much as most people who have been around as long as me. I've been playing since late 2012, and I don't even own half the champions. I never have a good amount of IP for long. On a good month, I can get one 6.3k champion and another 2k in my wallet. That said, I'm not going to get the entire set anytime soon.

that's not our problem nor Riot's problem
