What do you think will happen with the new yorick?
So as many of us know from riots first awesome podcast we knew they were going to rework a few champs that really need it. They had mentioned in order they will rework poppy, taric, and yorick.
When clarity was still available I had played yorick support a few times on and off for shits and giggles cause his poke and counter gank burst is honestly really nice. If he didn't have so many mana problems I'd say he'd be a viable support. I do like yorick and am a fan of him. His late game bruiser tankyness is fantastic. But as we all know yorick is well known as a NOT FUN champion. Right now he's unplayable with the removal of clarity and mana pots and also with the removals he was one of the few champions that didn't get a mana cap or regen buff.
We already know as well from the podcast that they want to keep him as this character that summons multiple minions to do his bidding for him. So they are keeping his concept the same but what do you think they will do with his abilities?
To look at it I want to look at what he does now. Yorick is a tankyness juggernaut champion with fair damage and undeniable sustain. His current passive is what I believe makes him a true juggernaut. Forget all the crappy stats about his ghouls for right now and focus on the like best tanky passive in the game now that poppy doesn't take half damage now. Yorick literally gains flat damage reduction just for having ghouls out and about. This I believe is what makes yorick a juggernaut. And I honestly hope they keep this part of the ability they way it is even if they nerf a few numbers on it. Damage reduction is however extremely strong and if you put it on a viable champion it becomes toxic again like they way he is now. You can say yeah urgot has I think 35% damage reduction after ulting but honestly urgot isn't the most viable champ in the world. Rito may end up removing the damage reduction on him. But will probably put other aspects on him to keep him a tank. His other abilities are simply just poke and sustain except his ult makes a match into a 6v5 which is nice but in my opinion I don't think they will keep his ult. Why this is is because it's another janky ability that can be easily misused. The intent of an ult shouldn't be to have an ally kamikazi into a fight just so the enemy will waste there abilities on them and then they can get back up to fight for a bit longer since the enemy just wasted a bunch of cooldowns. It's a decent strat that's hard to,pull off in lower elos but again that shouldn't be the intent of an ult to die. I think what they may do is just have another pet for the juggernaut to use but a stronger one. Somthing like tibbers. And since this is a reworked champion that riot is making we can also expect a percent of health damage on one of his abilities.
We can't say what they'll do with specificly with his abilities will do but we can expect minions that we can summon. And him to still be tanky from the podcast riot had played for us. So now I ask what do you think his abilities will end up like? And what his role be? A frontline? A duelist? A split pusher? Maybe they'll keep him as a decent poke champ? Another reworked champion with crap tons of peel?
