Autofill takes so much away from this game
Been playing a lot of support in mid plat, 3 cases I'm seeing these days even more than usual: -You destroy bot, pretty much farming kills every time they get back to lane, get dragons and towers, ideal snowball. Oh wait, your lane bully toplane fed 8 kills to a hypercarry, team fights said hypercarry one by one, game drags on and you eventually lose. -You get destroyed in bot, but one of the enemy solo laners fed your entire team. You spend the next 10 minutes trying to do support things except the whole enemy team just kinda evaporates whenever your solo laners look at them so you're basically just watching the show. -Clueless adc who gets destroyed immediately, shrieks arguably-league-related words in chat while you do your best to salvage the situation. Seems to turn into the second case about half the time depending on how quickly the adc tilts the rest of your team.
Obviously this kinda thing has always happened, but I've never seen it be so consistent. And I'm capitalizing on a schedule that lets me play during school hours; it's even worse otherwise. I wouldn't just make a wall of text to complain though (I mean, I have, just not this time) because I think this is a pretty solid argument for scaling back autofill in plat+ and maybe improving matchmaking a bit.
All the above cases are what happens when one or more people per team are autofilled. First case is one of our solo lanes, and probably one of their botlanes. Second case is one of their solo lanes, and maybe our adc. Third is our adc. You add all these up and it's pretty much all the games right now.
Is any of that fun? Watching (of all champs) a Kalista call you a coward while getting hit by every skillshot and thus feeding a Draven. Actually winning bot only to get run down by a Kled with 10 kills at 17 minutes. Seeing your Pantheon feed 5 kills to a Jax and knowing that not only is the Jax gonna steamroll the adc you've been getting fed, Pantheon's power curve means that any eventual comback will basically have to happen 4v5. None of this is the reason we play the game.
Even symetrical autofill ruins games. I would much rather listen to a podcast while waiting 15 minutes for a game than spend 30 minutes watching a dumpster fire of a game.
(As a caveat, I acknowledge that autofill might be kinda necessary for support. I'm fine with that, since by playing support I ensure I don't have to deal with that. Also, autofilled supports have some options: a weak Janna player isn't a good thing, but as long as she's staying back and using her E I'd rather have that than an autofilled solo lane that has to actively pvp).
