A question to Cassi lovers. Is the rework so bad?

Okay, before everyone starts tearing me a new rear end, we're going to leave out the topic of her passive entirely. It's dumb and bad and no one likes it. There, we said it, let's move on.

Cassi seemed to have two playstyles that shifted over the course of a game, pre-rework. Be an obnoxiously strong lane bully with her Q spam and then in the mid/late game hang back and weave Es while kiting with QW and R. With the shift of power into her E has she really lost her identity? It really just smooths out her playstyle so she's always looking for poison to slam people with some serious pain. Even now, at level 2 her all in with QE is pretty respectable. I feel like people who think Cassi is all about her Q just want the early game Cassi back and they've gone on record to say she's never going to be that. Q as a major damage source works in a laning phase situation, it's not going to be good for teamfights.

I'm just afraid they're going to go through with this whole "E amps poison damage" thing which will result in Cassi doing probably way less dps over longer periods of time which will just make her weak and unsatisfying just so most of the people can go "Muh Q" when it does like 500 damage on its own over 3 seconds.

I just seem to disagree with the community as I enjoyed Cassi before her rework and even more post rework. Melting people with E is fun, and makes her feel more like the "AP ADC" that people typically labeled her as pre-rework in terms of playstyle.

You can't talk about the rework without addressing the passive. It's the thing that fucks everything up, you get a stupid ball of stats after stack farming for a year, and for what? Her AP ratios got gutted for the passive, so there's no damage difference, just bigger numbers, and a fun time for veigar, after jumping through a million hoops. Her passive has its fingers in everything, if you willfully ignore it cass might seem like a legit champ, but the passive is too bad and destructive to ignore.

Yes, it is so bad.

It complete changed her 1.) Role 2.) Identity 3.) Powercuve

Instead of a lane bully she is a weaker Veigar. Instead of a DoT mage who finishes off weakened enemies with E she's now supposed to be an spamm-E bot. She used to have a balanced powercurve throghout the whole game, now early, mid, and early-late agme a simply 4v5.

Casseiopeia's "rework" in a nutshell:

Q & W receives nerfs. E receives buffs. What rework are we talking about.

The general consensus is the "rework" is bad,

I'm aware people say it's bad but the entire discussion in the discussion thread is that "Her new passive sucks." and then when they're not bashing the passive they're talking about her identity as a poison mage being lost and no one has really gone on to say HOW that has changed besides "Her Q does no damage" or "Can't just Q people all day in lane for easy wins" kinda stuff.

how could there be more to say than "the champion that used to have the best dots in the game now gets almost no damage from them"? it's a damage over time without the damage. that's it, there's nothing more to say

I feel like Swain wants a word with you.

I feel like Swain wants a word with you.

Swain has zero dots on his kit. Decrepify is a tether that the enemy can break by walking away from, and also is used more for the slow than the damage. His ult is a very short range constantly damaging aura. Tristana feels more like a DoT mage than swain because she levels rocket shot in lane and that creates periods of time where the enemy's health is ticking down and they are vulnerable from the heal debuff.

Ideally to me, a DoT mage would have DoT abilities with shorter cooldowns than their durations, interact with each other in special ways, and at least one DoT would have a VERY long duration under certain situations. Cassiopeia was the closest to this with her short cooldown Q, twin fang's interaction with poisons when it was seen as a bonus on her kit instead of the focus, and the additional W to provide some zone control.

Torment? Like.. Swain has no burst. Everything about him is sustained damage. If you've ever played World of Warcraft, Swain feels rather similar to affliction warlocks. Swain definitely has more of a 'watch you rot from constant damage' feel than Cassi does.

that gives him a dps mage feel, not a dot mage feel.

well, I was on their side, when they wanted their DoT mage back, the community threw that poison amp idea, got a bunch of agreement, but now? everyone whine about cass being more E-centered, requires complex combo, because of that poison amp. They want AoE-DoT-Lane Bully-Q centered-Cass

everything stashu did will considered as bad, and everyone that love new cass will considred as bad

c'mon guys, many skarner mains admit he is in an okay/fine condition after they bring back skarner identity as a disruptor, even if he isn't the same and probably worse

As I'm not a Cass main, I can't give too many specifics. From what I've heard and seen though, the main reason people hate the new Cass is because she basically got her old playstyle thrown away and changed to something completely different. She was a strong in your face aggressive champion who could bully incredibly hard. RIOT kind of slapped her "MAIN" playerbase by taking that away by making her incredibly weak early and a big Farm to win champion. Her late game is INSANE, but she has poppy syndrome, meaning that her early laning phase can basically be beaten by any other champion and she just doesn't offer much until she gets into super late game. IF she does reach late game, she is a monster, but the thing is that its a huge IF and reaching that now is hard. I also felt that her old playstyle was strong early and she falls off late, but now that's opposite too, she sucks early and is strong late.

have you even seen a late game old cass land poison on a squishy, it was crazy.

the rework is fine, cass can still do much

Quepha1 votes

yes, it really was so bad, and by telling tis to riot it is getting better. the poison amp will make kiting more fun and cass's kit feel more complete.

The Queen Viper1 votes

Yes, it's rather bad... at least when compared to her previous state.

Also weird that you somehow enjoy her more after the rework, since it's not like she couldn't melt people before... she did, even better and consistently than now.

Problem is more about midlane right now than cassiopeia herself. Role, identify and etc. is just an excuse. Her problem is about she seems like yasuo right now. I think Riot can give a better early and nerf her late game.
