This way he can spook some people. Also any offensive command activate the orbs.

Good idea, but again, one of his intended weaknesses is being easy to spot.

But he's already weak, and this singles him out from every other champion.

He's not weak though.

Sol has a whhhhhhhhhhhhhhole lot of intended weaknesses and I'm not seeing much strength in the trade off.

I mean if you like not being able to hit anyone right next to you, dying to anyone with a jump when your ult is down, not really doing that much damage, and being OOM after 2 seconds of star expansion then I mean I guess he's pretty strong?

He is actually really strong. The issue is that the zone of damage is completely out of your control in that it is based around your positioning as opposed to what you're doing. His W active does some serious damage but it's easy to avoid in most circumstances. In a hectic team fight if you get a stun on them, then they are in your range because it detonates at max range. Or if you drop an R on multiple enemies they are ALL getting blasted by your stars. I've only played a few games as him but what I've noticed is that if I can get my enemy into that outer star range, they get DESTROYED. It's not that he's bad, it's that he has a completely unique play style that revolves around keeping your enemy at a certain distance, which is relatively difficult, but something that his entire kit is designed to do.

Aurelion Sol is an amazing example of VERY low skill floor, but an EXTREMELY high skill cap.

Aazzlano1 votes

No? This implies that he is really easy to play effectively. And that is like... absolutely wrong?

  • Long, big stun.
  • Instant damaging + push back ult that puts the enemies in perfect range
  • Can push lane for free or almost
  • Good roaming potential

While he's not say, Annie, he ain't exactly Lee Sin either. He's really not that hard to play. The difference between a good and bad player, however, is absolutely terrifying. I'd say "low skill floor, but an high skill cap" fits him pretty well.

low skill floor does not mean easy to play effectively, just means easy to play. Master yi has a low skill floor since all his abilities are autos, but high skill cap because to use them effectively you have to avoid skill shots and cc (assuming you build assassin yi and not tank yi.)

Spaceman5pff2 votes

Agreed. While he might not have as wide a spectrum as say, Vayne or Yi; he seems to be one of the wider skill ranges of the champion pool, maybe comparable to thresh.

If this is supposed to be a weakness, then by your logic, everyone who's got a huge model are unable to hide in bushes.

Seems like there's a lot of butthurt here.

Not... really? He didn't say anything about huge models, you kind of put words in his mouth.

His passive is always on and capable of dealing damage and spell effects from items, at the cost of not turning invisible when he's in a bush. Reading the title of the thread, it's not hard to come to that conclusion. It has nothing to do with model size, that's your logic.

Myozthirirn2 votes

In fact, most tanks got larger models/hit box to be easier to spot/aim (you also draw more attention and absorb more damage for you litle friends)

The STARS are intended to give him away. His model has nothing to do with it.

Personally, I kind of like that. He's a massive star dragon hell-bent on vengeance and looking cool as hell. Who needs stealth when you can fly in, a star the size of the lane in tow?

max e creates a star thats bigger than the enemy nexus and bigger if i kept flying. put that aoe on a 2.5 sec stun? Ty riot i love this champion.

He is also just easy enough to play against where he isn't insanely overpowered

i still find it funny how blatant his weaknesses are, yet you then have champions like Riven Zed LeeSin Yasuo Thresh Fizz who lack any easily definable weakness

HOW DID NOBODY AH ECH IF AURELION SOL STANDS STILL FOR X SECONDS THE STARS SHOULD RETRACT ASLDKFJDSAL;F IT WAS SO OBVIOUS

Communist Toast3 votes

I don't see how many people still have an issue with this, do people just stand in bushes for minutes on an end or something? with Sol's E ability you can gank from places other than the river bushes and stuff, so it's not really that big of an issue imo. (even better ganks since the bushes are always warded)

He's not really meant to be support. Honestly why would an all powerful star dragon be supporting some dude with a gun.
