Her being arguably the best jungler in the game before the item that isn't even released yet is out might also have something to do with it.

I don't see where you're getting this from, there are options that are miles better than Shyvana.

She just got buffed to help her out, and now she's in line for gutting based on an item.

It has something to do with her having the second highest win rate in the jungle (below the invincible Nunu), with a fairly high play rate, and the highest overall performance.

Specifically, Shyvana is the best farmer jungler in the game, with the highest average CS in her jungler, and the highest average counter jungling CS. She clears incredibly fast, and out-duels most of her opposition in the jungle. She also tends to make the most gold of any jungler, and deals a lot of damage while not dying very often.

Shyvana is very good.

No, she's not being "gutted" for the sake of a new item. She's losing a small amount of Burnout's free damage output late-game, more likely because of the buff to her W where it applies the damage as an on-hit effect. I honestly expected a nerf to Burnout's damage after the W buff before the Sated Devourer leak, and I am not one bit surprised.
