Voicing concerns and suggestions on Shen's rework.
Right now Shen feels awfully clunky on the PBE mostly because of the interactions with the Spirit Blade passive, and sometimes this can be a detriment to you and your performance. The Spirit Blade is just kind of there and hardly ever presents itself as a key mechanic worth learning and controlling, it can miss your target entirely and it can even be delayed based on it's current position on the map. The new W is fixed to a small position around the blade which just doesn't work in a game where fights are constantly erupting and moving around the map. As a frontline champion, Shen has to sometimes throw himself into multiple enemies, and in that role you can't afford to sit still just because your thing is on the ground which doesn't last very long to begin with, and the shield from his new passive can be broken in a single auto attack.
Since they're trying to incorporate this Spirit Blade thing into his kit, along with dodge and a little bit of %HP damage I figured I would try and voice my suggestions because (hopefully) things are still subject to change and maybe if my suggestions are well enough received and moreso than the planned rework, we can make him even better and not so different for long time Shen players, while keeping him simple for people looking to pick him up for the first time.
Passive: Ki Strike remains with slight changes.
Every X seconds Shen calls upon his Spirit Blade for a single empowered auto attack, dealing a percentage of the targets maximum health as magic damage and generating a small shield that decays over X seconds.
Q: Twilight Assault
Shen throws both of his physical blades in succession dealing escalating damage, marking the target and granting a regenerative affect before calling upon his Spirit Blade for a powerful blow. If Shen attacks a marked target with his Spirit Blade the mark is then consumed, dealing bonus magic damage and granting a flat amount of health and energy in return.
W: Feint
Activating this ability will cause Shen to dodge all incoming damage from basic attacks.
With the reworks recently Riot has had a nasty habit of straying too far from what long time players loved about the champions, but I think that with these changes Shen can be improved upon and made competitive while still feeling fresh and familiar at the same time, although it may be too late.
I usually don't do this, in fact I never have, but Shen is a champion that means a lot to me and countless others, and I would hate to see him fade away like so many other champions.
