@RiotRepertoir, my idea for a long lasting W change for Ezreal.

Since they want a long lasting change for Ezreal's W: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/ZFv81t4f-plans-for-ezreal?comment=00010000000000040000

W ACTIVE: Ezreal fires a wave of energy in a line, dealing magic damage to enemy champions struck, and granting all allied champions struck bonus attack speed for 5 seconds. Gains special effects due to stacks on Raising Spell Force.

Cost: 65 mana at all ranks

Magic Damage: 60 / 85 / 110 / 125 / 150 (+35% AP) Attack Speed: 20% at all ranks

(NOTE: he keeps everything from the lower stacks when going to higher stacks.) Stack 1: Double the damage of his W Stack 2: Gain the atk spd onto his W atk spd that his passive has. (So stack 2 20% is 40% atk spd from his W) Stack 3: His W speed increases by % depending on his crit chance Stack 4: W gains a heal again? (idk what to do for this one) Stack 5: W can now hit everything (Or maybe just champs and jungle camps)

To complex with too many things that would make it feel inconsistent, both to use and to have used against you. People would always be saying "didn't it not do that last time?" Or "wasn't it stronger last time?" Bad design all in all.

Give visual effects on ezreal for how many stacks he has.

DrCyanide1 votes

And how does that help the underlying problem at all? You've still got this system where his power on one ability is fluctuating like mad.

lostbob1171 votes

I don't see how that's much of a problem.

lostbob1171 votes

To note, if you were confused with this: His past effects stay when he goes to higher stacks.

So at 2 stacks he has bother 1 and 2 stack effects.

Again, that doesn't help the problem.

The closest comparable ability to what you're making Ezreal's W into is Twisted Fate's W. TF's can be boiled down to "Blue = Mana, Red = AoE Slow, Yellow = Stun" pretty nicely. It isn't tied to his other spells, and it doesn't change depending on how many people it hits.

In contrast, your Ezreal W change would have it fluctuating all over the place. It's tied to how many people it hits and how many other spells have hit recently. Ignoring the other spells, W could only grant 1 stack, dealing 2x damage, or it could grant 5 stacks at once becoming a mini-ultimate, depending on how many targets you hit.

It would get boiled down to "never go near Ezreal when he's been able to stack his passive, and never group too close", without a clear indication of what it means for each stack of his passive. It's a bunch of random, unclear power just shoved at an ability for no reason and with no thematic purpose.

How does it become a miniult?

DrCyanide1 votes

Whatever, it becomes "overloaded" if you don't like the idea of it having as much utility as some ultimates.

The point is still (and always has been) it's trying to do too much on one ability, with no clear distinction of what it will do at any point it's cast.

I already told you it could have a visual effect on Ezreal.

Plus the only thing this adds onto his ability is a heal. Everything else is just increasing what is already on his W. Of course, those numbers can be changed a bit if needed.

DrCyanide1 votes

How do you have a visual for "this will change depending on how many things it hits?" What visual do you pick for "this will at least be this, but could be X, Y, or Z as well?"

There is no comparable visual or mechanic in the game, so you've got to explain the idea a bit more than just saying there will be a visual. Because right now you need a visual indicator that changes as the W hits targets, which is a little late for a warning of what it will do.

Have little yellow orbs float around him.

1 orb for every stack he has.

maybe have different colors representing what he gets, like dmg is red, heal is green, speed is prob blue, atk spd is yellow, and the last stack can be white.

DrCyanide1 votes

OK, but you realize he can instantly jump from no orbs to the fully stacked white orb, right? No other system does anything remotely close to that, so piggy backing off of TF's card color system isn't going to be enough.

I like his w as it is

You've played the champion 4 times(in ARAM) in the past month

First off, consider this: How the heck are you supposed to fit all that on one tooltip? Second, if I'm playing against Ezreal, how do I know what each of these effects is without having access to that tooltip?

Also, the order seems pretty bad; it's really easy to get one stack (just fire off a Q), and double damage puts his W into mini nuke status. You should shove that down to 4 or 5 stacks.

Remember too that you don't have to do something for every stack; changes at 1, 3, and 5 stacks or even just 5 stacks could work well too.

  1. They've fit a lot more on 1 tool before.
  2. Search it up??? Just like how you usually figure out what the enemy does.

I destroyed his W damage and 1 stack puts it back up to pretty much the strength it has now. Just more base damage and less scaling when he has that 1 stack.

You might right on the 1, 3, and 5 stacks just doing something.

Maybe reverting the atk spd change on his W in my idea to how it is and doing.

Stack 1: Double Damage W Stack 3: W speed increases depending on crit chance Stack 5: W now heals his allies for 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 HP

Current: 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+ 80% AP) Yours: 60 / 85 / 110 / 125 / 150 (+35% AP) Yours(doubled: 120 / 170 / 220 / 250 / 300 (+70% AP)

When doubled, it's pretty much 50 more damage across the board, and with only a 10% AP ratio nerf. 50 extra damage is OP at early levels, and it's a straight buff for the rest of the game (unless you're playing AP Ezreal and get to 500+ AP endgame)

Realistically, nobody will ever fire off a W without a stack if they would get extra damage for having one, since Q is on such a short cooldown and gives you a stack. If you're going to buff the damage, you should make it harder to achieve i.e. require 3-5 stacks.

AD Ezreal keeps his W at level 1 for a very long time. As I exactly stated in the thread already" "Of course, those numbers can be changed a bit if needed". I felt that since his W costs more mana at Lv1 I think it won't overbearing for AD Ezreal to have this damage buff on W slightly. Though I can see the concern of it. It may need a nerf in 10 or 15 damage at most, I'm guessing. That is if it does seem overbearing playing against.
