Isn't 20+ LP for wins the standard if you're in a division you're suppose to be in?

Like I don't get how lp gain is currently acting up. I've played so many seasons before this and this is the first time my lp gains are so low. Even after 300/400 games in gold at around 53% w/r I was getting 19-21 lp. Now I'm getting between 17-18 and RARELY 19. I have to win a whopping 6 games IN A ROW to get to promos to ATTEMPT a promotion. This is nutty rito games.

14-16 is the standard, actually. If you're getting 20+, then the system thinks you're lower than your actual skill level, but not enough to justify skipping things.

I've seen 18-20. I think it tends towards lower increments at higher ELOs, though (at least that's my assumption from what I've heard). TFT is obviously different, and it might be different for TT than for SR.

If you're getting the same amount of LP on a win as on a loss, though, then you're even.

Overall winrate means absolutely nothing. Recent games are the only thing that matter. The system does not care at all how you performed 100 games ago.

+/- 18 is fairly typical for playing at your ELO level

Once you get to diamond, things get wonky from what I've heard though

I think it decreases slightly the more games you played, and it also decreases slightly the higher you go up in Rank.

So, to illustrate, for 2 players who are both "in the division they're supposed to be in":

  • Played 100 games and is in Silver3 --> win 21
  • Played 800 games and is in Diamond3 --> win 16

Do note that I'm speculating here, this hasn't been officially confirmed.

Another entirely unrelated thing that could also play a role is the bug early this season, where people were gaining much more LP than intended. This may have caused some inflation that they are trying to compensate now with lower gains at higher Ranks. Again, that's just speculation.
