Me: "Why is smite dealing 1015 damage?"

BoyManDog33··5 votes·914 views

Answer:

Assassin- Deal 1.5% increased damage when no allied champions are nearby.

GG riot now I can solo baron faster than before*[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]*

UPDATE: Just tested it, ignite is increased as well. At level 18, ignite normally does 410. With the assassin mastery, it does 416 #tonsofdamage

I was under the impression that Assassin only worked for champions.

I will check to see if this bug is functional... huehuehuehue

assassin increases ALL your damage by 1,5% even tho i thought true damage was an exception to all damage modifiers. i mean, double-edged sword also increases your damage by 3% and smite seemingly doesnt benefit from it.

also, if smite benefits from assassin, does ignite too?

It might. My guess is that they only coded the nearby allies exception and forgot the true damage cap exception.

As to the double-edged sword point, I believe that because it says "additional" damage rather than "increased" it becomes additive rather than multiplicative. In terms of coding, I would assume that it just becomes more difficult to add exceptions to multiplicative code. I could just be saying nothing, but I'm more just spitballing as to why this was left in

Not that 1.5% bonus true damage really helps that much.

Well, I mean if you don't want extended buffs or better potions then go ahead.

depends on the math. I've taken biscuits for most junglers that have a weak early clear but get rolling fast, since they don't need blue later while the early clear it saves them a huge amount of HP.

if +1.5% damage can shave off 2-3 autos total from the first 3 camps on average, it'll be worth taking over biscuits on any biscuit jungler.

Only way to shave off that many autos is: Over a course of 200 autos, Or if the jungle minions wouldn't have died and would have required another hit if you hadn't had assassin. Considering 70 base damage and a 1000 hp jungle monster, you would need a 15th auto attack to kill it regardless. 400 hp? You still kill it in the same amount of hits. It seems it's not really that good unless you have a bunch of stacking % bonus damage. And even then it's just meh.

what about AOE spells? If you are casting a 80 base damage AOE spell AND autoing for 70 base damage, that cuts the expected time in half.

Even then it's the aoe at play, the 1.5% is so small it's almost inconsequential.
