Why is Fizz's Ult so hard to dodge?

I saw a pretty popular thread on the boards, so I decided to explain the way Fizz's Ultimate works to the best of my ability. I'll state the obvious things, and then something that many people don't actually realize, that makes Fizz's ultimate so hard to avoid.

First, Fizz's Ult is a projectile that has massive range, is fairly fast, and gets larger the further it travels. This means that the farther you are, the more of a bonus Fizz gets when it comes time to aim his ult.

Second, Fizz's ult increases in size, not only with the projectile itself, but also the area afterwards. This means that even if missed, Fizz can place huge pressure onto an enemy through zoning with his ult, by forcing an enemy to either walk into the ult or walk towards Fizz, and if you're a ranged caster, you know you're not into either of those things.

Finally, here is the last bit that many people don't notice. Fizz's ult isn't actually just a projectile. Do you know why you can aim the projectile to be closer or further away from you? It's not just for the actual ult itself to act as a zoning potential. Pay close attention to Fizz's fish next time his aim flops. The fish itself will bounce upwards, highlighting a circle around it. (I'm not sure if it gets bigger the further he aims his ult, but I'm assuming it does.) The thing is, if you aim a fish at a specific spot, and flops that circle, it expands its hitbox to a stationary bigger circle than the fish alone, and will actually leap and attach itself onto a champion within that hitbox.

For example:

Xerath is standing in a spot that is 25 units outside of the fish's hitbox. Xerath feels relieved. However, Fizz is a sly fox, and aimed the fish to the exact spot that it is about to reach. The fish suddenly flops, highlighting a circle. Since Xerath is inside this circle, the fish then jumps (yes its animation is actually jumping) onto Xerath, latching onto him and leading the shark to Xerath.

This last mechanic is what mainly causes a lot of frustration. Even if Fizz's ultimate was just a big fat projectile, it's still pretty hard to dodge, because it pierces through minions. However, with it being both an AOE AND directional skillshot, it just got a whole lot harder to dodge.

A good way to summarize it is like an Anivia Q that travels faster, has a smaller circle at the end, has further range, and can only travel all the way to the end. If it hits anyone on the way, it stops. You can't recast it to detonate it early (as far as I know).

TL;DR: Fizz's Ult is Anivia's Q but better.

EDIT: Here is a video by Vandrillil or something that shows the bounce mechanic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lcsa9mzrYas

Its like Zoe's bubble. It lands on the ground and if you are in the zone when it "lands" it will attach to you. The "land" is for only like .25s so after that its stays on the ground.

is fairly fast

The general consensus is that Morgana Q is a very slow skillshot, Morg Q has 1200 projectile speed. Fizz ult has 1300 projectile speed LUL

while I do personally feel like Fizz ult isn't that hard to dodge, I don't feel like this is a particularly good comparison to make, because 100 MS is the difference between an Elise without boots and an Elise with item 3117. That can be a huge difference, be it projectile or champion.

Well we could also compare it to Varus Q/ult, both with 1850 speed (according to lol wiki)

Someone made a calculation and you need about 420+ ms to dodge his ulti.
