Vlad rework suggestion

With respect Riot,

Right now the problem with Vlad isn't the damage on paper, its the fact that most of it is useless and WAY TOO EASY to counterplay and avoid at the higher eloes.

Your empowered Qs only last 2.5 seconds and its too easy for the enemy to walk away in lane or in team fights. The rest of your Qs only hit at 0.45 AP.

Your Es are too easily tank-blocked or minion-blocked with the new Nova mechanic. The reward for hitting it is also way too low for having to lose 10% of your health 100% of the time.

What you have done.

Increasing the power of E

Its not really useful because the problem lies in LANDING the ability reliably, not in the damage that it does. People can see you charging the ability, they can see the outer boundaries of the ability, they can move away or have tanks block it in time. Its not going to hit reliably enough. That's the problem. Its RELIABILITY that's the problem, not damage.

**Increasing the healing on the Ultimate **

A delayed healing mechanic on Vladimir is useless. By that time the fight is won or lost. Ask anyone who mains the champion, I think there would be a general consensus that the healing should be removed or reduced and more power transferred to his bread and butter Qs and Es.

Here's what WOULD help (without making Vlad unbalanced).

  1. More damage to unempowered Qs (this is actually the most important)

  2. Increasing the length of the empowered Q's windows of opportunity

  3. Increasing E's RELIABILITY (ex making it AOE and instant cast but with less damage and with reduced damage past the first target hit Zed-style; decreasing health cost proportionately)... people want Es that hit, even if its for less damage

  4. Returning the R's damage amp to 12% (I don't know why this was nerfed, in my view a 12% damage amp is important for Vladimir to have a teamfight-wide high impact ability to help team mates and make him more team oriented)

  5. Reducing or removing the healing on the Ult and shifting that power to your bread-and-butter Qs and Es or for increased R damage amplification

My fellow League players and Riot, what do you think?

His normal Q is laughable, it heals for literally nothing. Heal on ult is pathetic and useless, needs to go (it's just a thing they added so they can say "see? we moved the heal from q to r!!"). Reliability was Vlad's main strong point and honestly that's gone now (need third-Q and a good E to deal some damage, otherwise you deal no damage).

Yes Vlad needs higher reliability to be effective... not high damage that can't be landed against anyone above Silver.

There's a difference between adding counterplay and making more than 50% of his damage on paper unusable against pros.

People walk away from your empowered Qs (which only last 2.5 seconds)... people Tank-block or walk away from your charging Es (or worse, a random wave of minions shows up and you E damage is gone).

This means that for most of the game you're hitting Qs at 0.45 AP and either not launching E or insta-casting it at a pathetic 0.3 AP (and even then its still likely not hitting).

And no one asked for healing on the Ult... by the time the Ult pops, the fight is either won or lost. Its the damage amp that should matter and be increased.

Agree with Original Post.

They need to fix the damage of his Q. Removing SV, decreasing base dmg and scaling, increasing CD and giving a shitty counterplay mechanic.. idk why they did this.

New E is just garbage now. Making an instacast proper AOE skill an ability that needs to be charged which can blocked or outmaneuvered because that caster himself gets slowed and all of these at the cost 10% of his freaking max hp. Truly a high risk very low reward ability.

I don't even know why they put heal on his ultimate, it's like they are taunting all the vlad mains, "Hey look its the same thing as before right? Only better". He does way less overall damage now and still his ulti amplification is reduced. But hey, it heals! which you will not get cos you're already dead.

I strongly disagree with all of your suggested changes but 2 and maybe 1.

I've said this before but I'd like to point out Vlad has solid winrates in high elo this patch, so the counterplay isn't getting in the way of dedicated, good Vladimirs who want to learn.

That said he needs several small buffs.

My suggestion would be:

  1. Speed/duration of empowered Q: make the duration scale with Vlad's level starting at 2.5 and getting something like 0.15 per level. Early game too long Crimson Qs will make him a VERY obnoxious lane bully. Late game the chain cc lasts for ages and allies keep denying you empowered Qs from farm.

  2. Lategame impact needs buffing somehow. Ult at max rank buffs maybe, or E at max rank includes more missiles? Can't decide. Thing is, being a lategame beast is part of his core so that needs to stay.

  3. This is a very personal preference, but buff his passive some more please :3
