How about 2x Mastery Tokens for S+ scores?

I had a random thought about Mastery tokens;

  • What if we earned two Mastery tokens with an S+ grade, rather than the one we'd get with an S or S-? I don't think it's unreasonable, and would simply further reward outstanding play.

  1. I didn't say to require S+ for Mastery 6 or 7, I'm saying to give double tokens for it.

  2. That's incorrect, it's not any more difficult to get S+ as a Support or Tank than a carry; do you understand that you are being graded against others on the same champion in the same role only, not against different ones that typically perform differently?

I got an S+ on thresh a bit ago. A champion that is consistently good. I just played smart didnt die and participated where i could.

I get S+ on Maokai support every 4-5 games. Rakan every 10-15 games or so.

You gotta know how to get an S+, but it's fully possible to get S+.

Hmm, I don't know. I'm getting s+ very often with nautilus, blitz.support

I don't think it makes very much sense. Mastery 6 and 7 should show you consistently play the champion well, not played a lot and had 3 good games

If we are trying to propose an alternative to how you already earn Mastery 6/7, that is a different discussion. Please feel free to create a thread about that.

While this sounds like a decent idea, the point of m6/7 is that you consistently do well. You can hit an S+ by being lucky (especially so for some champions). Sure, it takes skill, but it's still a lot of luck. It makes no sense that someone who always plays a champion well would take more games to get m6/7 than someone who was just lucky as hell one or two games (Say, as Soraka, where your top and mid are just that good, and you just press R about the right time)).

However, I agree that S+ needs some more recognition.

Maybe some other reward for S+? Maybe every certain number of them you get means you get a key (fragment) or crate, limited as it is now (i.e. you can't get a point from a champion more than once per season)?

It's just one fewer game. It is waaaaaay easier to get two S scores by luck than a single S+.

Perhaps. But I did easily pull off an S+ as Soraka in One-For-All. And I also did it by doing almost nothing but ulting every time the toplaner was fighting. I also hit S (or maybe S+?) as a second-time Zed in Poro King.

IMO, the mastery system needs a minor rework before things are changed. As far as I'm aware, it does terribly at taking into account game length. It also makes it hard to get high ranks when you're forced to sacrifice yourself to save a teammate's (or the entire team's) ass, or when you're forced to focus on objectives over score. Could honestly use some player-based interaction, so that a team that agrees you carried would influence your score by a rank (B becomes B+, C+ becomes B-, etc).

What does an S+ mastery score even entail?

I've literally gotten an A+ for high kills and assists, zero deaths, top CS, using wards on cd. I wish they'd lower the threshold for S scores in general based on game play time.

The only time I see S+ is in total crush games where someone works extra hard to get 500 cs instead of doing something to end the game.

Its based on the champion average performance. So if youre crushing hard with snowball champs, and other people are too... well youre competeing for a high bar.

Try some Gragas support, try some Karthus top lane... dont try Vi support, because despite some really amazing stats Iv yet to get an S on her as a support.

Its true though they could relax the S performance a bit based on game time, I can go 1/0/9 on support in a 18 minute ff game and would have gotten an S but the game was over too soon.

Yea that's a great idea actually.

I wish I got tokens when I played 3v3 is all I want. Sucks spamming it, doing well and getting an S and getting no reward whatsoever ;-;

Also, allow for mastery level 6 and 7 in the other permanent gamemodes as well. Anyone can lane and farm and support in a 1v1/2v2 non-stress environment - it's in a full-on chaotic teamfight that the wheat from the chaff is separated.

Nidalee was good for sure, but how does a few more cs and 3x worse kd ratio get an entire tier higher? (S+ vs A+)
