Balancing Champions: My Thoughts
There has been significant outcry on behalf of Zed's current power as an in-n-out assassin. I feel as if it is my responsibility to shed my own light on the situation.
In terms of champion reworks, buffs, and nerfs, many are clearly done when the identity of said champion or role of said champion in a way that cannot be ignored. However, in some extreme cases, nerfing the actual identity of the champion is necessary. Look at Sona- Her rework lowering the radius of her auras was a huge but admittedly somewhat necessary change to her power in manipulating a teamfight in her favor. However, the Sona rework was never recieved well by the LoL community and caused much backlash. In summary, necessary nerfs to a champion's identity rather than damage or other such things seem to be largely avoided for fear of community backlash.
Relating this back to issues with Zed as a whole, most people are complaining that his ability to get into a fight and get a kill while still escaping are overwhelmingly powerful. However, removing Zed's ablility to do so would not only be inherently nerfing his identity- it would practically be REMOVING half of his identity as an elusive shadow ninja. In terms of other problems people have relating to Zed like his ability to farm easily due to his passive could be dealt with, I feel as if Zed, purely as an identity (not stat-wise) is right where he needs to be. Feel free to leave your own opinion in the comments section, but please avoid toxicity. No one likes a poison-dart frog :)
