I see the same things complained about every season when will it stop?

Now is the time to act, Riot is going into their 5th season with the same problems that they have had every single season. Now is the time to fix them. Now is the time to change what has been an issue for the last 4 seasons. Not to mention these things have been asked for as much if not more than a new map or even the visual update to summoners rift.

  1. Death Screens Need a rework. That is weird, flash dealt me damage? I assisted my own death? Where did the rest of the 90% damage come from? Mixed... is that more physical or magical or was it true damage?

  2. Balance your champs Just look at poor galio, urgot, zilean and veigar not to mention anyone that has been around since season one knows what it means to be olaf'd or eve'd. Heck most of the champions listed above just need some base mana or mana regen and they would be on par in lane phase.

  3. Fix roles so that they can do what they are supposed to do (currently assassins and tanks) If you want to assassinate you should die in less than 2 seconds if you get caught. If you want to tank you shouldn't die in 2 seconds even against an assassin. This would promote the assassin actually killing the right target (healthy gameplay). If you want to make it so that a tank can still die make it so that armor is more useful against melee champs. Historically armor worked better against melee anyways.

  4. Diversify the Game I've heard this about champions, items, and runes. If you want a healthy game, all roles have to coexist. You can't just go well I like the ap/ ad assassin roles so we will give them really good ingame buffs (dragon, baron) and tanks well, good luck. I remember the era of tanks and adc's in s1 and s2 it doesn't have to be anything like that or like it is now where mobility and burst reign supreme... The least you could do is give some options to resist burst. Both Odin's veil and orb of winter would both make really great assets on summoners rift. Not to mention we could just readjust the classes to do what they are supposed to do. As far as runes go, why do we even have scaling energy and flat energy when flat gives 2.2 and the other gives 2.9@18. Why would I ever buy the second rune over the first? Melee/ranged adc grevious wounds, or a healing rework?

  5. Fix your patcher and in game client. There is always a different problem that arises. Right now I can't log in on half of my attempts, and when I do sometimes I have a "firewall issue". Previously people have had patchers getting stuck, people not being able to get past the que while in a game, and even just season 1 "busy" where you refreshed one million times to get in.

  6. Fix Matchmaking. Why can't we see our hidden mmr? Why am I being placed against silver 5's or plat 1's (in ranked) as a gold player? Why are bronze players playing against diamond players in unranked? Why can smurfs boost players ruining the game for 8 other players? Not mentioning that a boosted player on his own ruins even more games for everyone else.

  7. Summoner spells also known as "clarity of summoners spells" So lets start by defining Cleanse- "Removes all disables and summoner spell debuffs affecting your champion and lowers the duration of incoming disables by 65% for 3 seconds." An exact quote from the game. But wait... Cleanse doesn't remove knock ups or suppress which are both disables... and just one minute what is this? It also remove the damage over time of ignite (which is a dot) but it doesn't remove grievous wounds which is by definition a debuff.

  8. Remove Teemo No Comment.

Tldr: Read the post or at least the headlines. To be honest these arn't even all of the complaints that have been around since season 1. Just a good chunk of them.

Oh. I thought this was going to be a thread about telling people to stop being self entitled complainers... but instead its a very long complainer thread... color me disappointed.

Point 2 seems a bit misguided. Some champs are Olaf'd or Eve'd for a reason, specifically the whole completely unbalanceable, worst possible things to happen to the game if they ever got even a bit too strong.

Oh I know exactly what I said, why do you think that a few champs this last season that saw game play were instantly nerfed? While others like lee sin remain to be played constantly.

Just to mention, kayle was nerfed pretty instantly, and so was twitch. Their game play mechanics aren't considered "healthy".

It is all still a part of balancing champions though.

Kuroi862 votes

Lee is strong, but not broken.

The champs you mentioned, Urgot, Galio, Zilean, Olaf, Eve, they all need reworks so that toxic or broken elements in their kits can be balanced. Sadly, reworks take time, like a lot of it.

So why doesn't Riot just fix those champions instead of making them intentionally useless and leaving them to rot?

TehNACHO1 votes

Well, they are doing so. It just takes them a long time.

Poppy for example, her being literally the prime examples of incredibly hazardous design, is currently the highest champion on the priority list of Sion level champion updates.

The problem is that these champions' reworks aren't going to be anything like, for example, Viktor, who only needed tweaks. These are full scale 'essentially new' champions. In other words, these are issues that take time to fix.

The last time Riot rushed a rework, we literally got Olaf as he is now.

Because "just fixing" isn't a very easy or quick thing to do...

I agree with many of the things said in this Post.

Especially:

  • Hidden MMR
  • Unviable Champions that have been ignored and shelved

However I strongly believe that inappropriate behavior in League (such as feeding, disconnecting, and other selfishness) is the FOREMOST issue.

The reporting system in League does absolutely nothing.

Its more profitable for the game to be unbalanced and have a few bugs than for it to be balanced and bug free. The key to a successful MOBA is maintaining the illusion of balance, while ensure the game is actually not.

This doesn't happen already? Unless I'm already ahead, in a 1v1, I face losing more than half my health going in for an assassination. If I get caught by three or more of the enemy team, nothing short of blowing every escape I have will save me, and that's if I'm lucky.

As a tank, 1v1 I can tank any other class for near a good ten seconds. If I'm dying in under two seconds, it means I got hit by a DFG followed by every ult on the enemy team, in which case, worth.

You've never seen a good leblank nuke a 5k hp chogath with 300 magic resist from full... I have multiple times. I've also seen zeds and talons full hp the tank in their one burst combo.

Kuroi861 votes

item 3128 /item 3153

Also are we taking into consideration how fed said assassin was vs how behind said tank was?

I can confirm, if I'm three levels behind Zed and he has an item or two more than me, I'm dead, doesn't matter what I have built.

But if we are the same level with the same number of items, he's not taking me from full to dead. Especially once I get my hands on him.

Sachabot1 votes

If you're at 5k health with 300 MR, you had best be full build or close.

Not that your point is wrong, but OP seems to think the LB can kill that Cho in one burst. Not a Cho that's behind, one that's on equal footing.

Kuroi862 votes

I'd love to see it done.

The problem is no one seems willing to post proof.

Heck, if someone is up for a custom, I've got Cho. I'm more than willing to farm up full build and let an LB even try one shotting me with her full combo.

Sachabot2 votes

I'd love to see it too, but I don't think it's possible.

Edit for spelling.

Heck if I can ever get my comp upgraded and get my video software downloaded, I'd be more than happy to put a lot of these conspiracy theories to rest.

Yes, tanks have issues, but I really think people blow them out of proportion.

5000 HP with 300 MR, after accounting for VS, SS and masteries, it's more like 168 MR.

Cho'gath has an effective 13415 magic HP.

Leblanc's maximum burst is 1435 + 3.7 AP damage. To kill Cho'gath on that, Leblanc would need over 3200 AP.

If she had Deathfire Grasp and lead with that, burst increases to 750 (DFG) + 1722 + 4.44

She'd still need over 2400 AP for that to kill Cho'gath.

I call bullshit on your bullshit.

That doesn't change the fact that I've seen it and that he would be close enough to dead to die to the next thing that hits him. I also never said the death recap was 100% accurate. I can actually guarantee that I have seen a mundo with those stats die in that amount of time. (He ultied as he was going in and the rest was leblank)

Not to mention the fact that leblank's entire kit is back up in 24 seconds without cdr but Chogath can't regain that health in 24 seconds.

Not to mention the fact that leblanc's entire kit is back up in 24 seconds without cdr but Chogath can't regain that health in 24 seconds.

  1. Actually, that burst only dealt 921+1.65 AP damage to Cho'gath's actual HP. Even at 800 AP, Cho still has over half of his maximum HP remaining, basing off of the burst that included Deathfire Grasp. And it's extremely difficult for a mage other than Viktor, Veigar, and a couple others I'm sure that I've forgotten, to hit 800 AP, almost an unrealistic scenario. So, no, he wasn't "close enough to die to the next thing that hit him."

Really, this situation can not happen. Ever. It is impossible.

  1. You can guarantee it? So you have video proof?

  2. Conversely, Leblanc can't threaten anyone else for that time, and Cho'gath didn't even expend half his HP to deal with that threat. It's now a 4v5, congratulations.

Impossible. Even with a void staff and 1000 ap, she has to deal 14000 raw damage. Even with dfg that's not possible. Please use a more reasonable exaggeration next time.

Why should a assassin cause such presence that you have to commit 3 team members to kill them. It makes sense that a assassin can duel but they shouldn't be such a presence that you have to send more then 2. At that point they can split push and function much the same way a tank does but with less risk. I mean all a tank wants to do in the end is slow stall and distract the enemy team.

I'll be honest, tanks shouldn't split push, if you want a split pusher, get a bruiser. And while it's true that two v one means said assassin may be dead. Three v one just about guarantees it and nothing short of a miracle is going to save him. Two v one there is outplay potential, more than that, you're boned.

(1) Everyone agrees with this

(2) It takes a lot of work to figure out what balance changes can make or break a champion, and aside from a few, outstanding picks like Urgot and Mordekaiser, I tend to see most champions being played all the time. Unless you're talking about Ranked/Tournament play. It's almost impossible to break the "3 most popular" model for champion picks.

(3) ...both of those archetypes are doing their jobs. If you catch an assassin off-guard, yeah, they're dead in a second or two; you just can't over-estimate what will catch them off their guard, because assassin players basically have to outsmart their opponents, so they're going to practice playing on how they expect you to react. As for tanks, while I agree that tank items could be better, they're not so horrible that tanks can't survive fights for a long time. The only time a tank dies immediately is if they are targeted by everything that the entire enemy team can throw at them.

(4) All the roles do coexist. Each of them has a main purpose, strengths and weaknesses. They have their own builds and variants, their ideal teammates and worst enemies, their own divergent playstyles...Sure, they aren't all in perfect balance, but tell me--screw that, tell Riot--when you find a way to perfectly balance over 120 champions.

(5) Can't say I've had the same issues, but you should report those problems instead of assuming Riot knows about them.

(6) Also something with which everyone agrees.

(7) There are a lot of things they should update for clarity, not just Cleanse.

(8) Ah yes, that's still a thing today, and I wish they'd just rework him so people have a reason to hate him again ^^

But, in truth, you will never see people stop complaining, whether about older problems or new ones. People complain, often unreasonably, about anything and everything.

Sammystorm1 votes

I miss season 2 and seeing my mmr. Then I could see how bad I was and actually could look forward to climbing. Also, Promo's are bullshit.

SlackerboyTC2 votes

If there was nothing to complain about then it would be a perfect game therefore stagnating in any new content

l AM SCRIPTING2 votes

The sad reality is simply that these complaints will not stop because the game is not going to reach this improved state that you and many others have idealized.

It's been years and the game is only farther away from being optimally balanced than ever before, and with every new champion and iteration unto power creep, it only gets worse. With every new innovative design philosophy comes the aftermath of previous, left over champions and items still being in the game in spite of the fact that they were created during a period in which the game's design philosophy was different, so they end up being "outdated". If Riot allocates their efforts towards correcting that, that in turn detracts from the current pace of the game and slows the release of actually new content, meaning people would/will still complain. As Riot works on reworks, they also have to continue to pump out new champions, which then alter the landscape of balance and, as a concordant result, mandates more reworks, or trivializes champions that have already been reworked, causing them to have to be reworked repeatedly and so on and so on.

All of this, coupled with a lack of new modes, new maps, community transparency regarding arbitrarily "limited" gamemodes, overall content decline/drought, and the random, still uncompensated nuking of all previously established lore and what do you have? A game that continues to decline as it funnels 90% of its focus on esports that only have a direct effect on the 0.01th percentile of the playerbase, with no real addressing of this truth because in spite of all this, the game still remains popular--because the majority of this toxic community consists of meme loving 13 year olds who don't care or don't understand anything related to objectively balanced gameplay or design.

Oh and daily reminder that to this day, ever since poppy and kassadin have existed, there's been a gamebreaking interaction between the two of them where if poppy uses her E on a kassadin in the middle of his riftwalk, poppy will teleport with kassadin to wherever he teleports to. This is something that is fundamentally important and a simple bug, yet this still isn't fixed, and has been around for literally years. Something this simple is overlooked, and with that in mind, can we really expect some sort of grand, drastic improvement in the overall quality of this game?

chumbler2 votes

You should know by now that Riot either cannot fix these things or has no intention of doing so. They have their 20 or so #LCSBIGPLAYS champions, and fuck you if the champions you like are not among them. They're coasting on the fact that they have a horde of sycophants who will shout down any legitimate criticism (of which there is a ton). When they're still making or worsening mistakes they've done many times before, that's a lack of effort to improve.

Don't expect quality or competence from Riot. All they're after is chasing dollar bills, not actually making a good game.

Are... you sure you've played enough to know what you're talking about? Because the entire issue stems from Season 2, when tanks lived up to their potential and then some. It was the League of Mundo for a damn good reason.

i feel like assassins have just about no risk against many slow mages, such as anivia, who rely on poke, instead of killing assassins in 2 seconds.

Sammystorm1 votes

Anivia doesn't rely on farm. The only way a anivia wins lane is if the enemy fucks up or if she out farms them. You don't go around spamming q or ult, e people. E has too short of range for her to be considered good at poke.

I've still seen it ( you never considered how large vlad's ulti's bonus damage used to be, and the fact that leblank has since been nerfed)

Have you even been here since lb's release? I've seen stuff like poppy critting for 2180 hp, and only hitting for that because that was their max hp.

You insinuated that she did it alone and recently. She was bugged on release like nasus. That was also when it wasn't uncommon for dfg to hit for 45% current hp and void gave 40% pen on its own.

Crits can and have always been able to overkill, so that assertion is incorrect too.

Tanks can't tank 5v1 for long periods because that would be broken. They can tank 1v1 in most cases especially when a team is heavily stacked in 1 damage type. There's a 400 or so break point where resistance trumps most incoming damage of that type. Split damage is what blows tanks up.

Edit: sorry, I'm really not trying to pick a fight with you. I agree with nearly all of your post. I'm trying to point out some of your hyperbole to make your post more credible. We really need an item with a passive that heavily lowers incoming damage for 2 seconds when lowered to like 35% hp. It would fix so many problems.

I maybe did exaggerate a little, I have seen it from leblank, just not since her last set of nerfs. Since her last set of nerfs I have seen her hit a mundo with 4k hp and 300 mr from full. That was mostly unlucky timing from his ulti like previously mentioned.

My real problem with tanks and assassins right now is that.

  1. Most tanks have a poor lane phase. (this is why they are forced into jungle)
  2. Leblank and quite a few other nuke champs have low cool downs to the point where they have their full burst back up in around 30-50 seconds.
  3. Tanks can't recover their tank in 30-50 seconds like nukes can recover their nuke.
  4. Tanks should deal less damage and just be able to tank harder... Honestly most of the time I don't care how much damage I deal as a tank as long as I can interrupt a fight.
  5. Assassins should be able to deal more damage and get in super easy but have less escapes.
RoyaiChaos1 votes
  1. As much as I want it, there are more important things
  2. Rito is trying, see Sion rework, Viktor rework, etc... Be patient
  3. Tanks do need some help, but I'm pretty sure assassins are being worked on, a lot of them were already hit
  4. I don't know what you're asking for in this one
  5. These issues only really affect a very small amount of players
  6. I hardly see any of this happen ever
  7. This is something new

Basically I'm pretty sure Riot is working on all of this, but if you want to make sure it happens, these threads giving vague problems and such really isn't helping all that much. Something like "We need more clarity in cleanse" or "Tanks need help" or "Why Galio is weak and what can be done about it" with actual ideas about the topic would be much more constructive than "Rito sux"
