Cause after about a year of it being out, EVERYONE has mastery lv 5 of like 15 champions even if they don't know or don't play said champ often. For example I have lv 5 on draven and I barely play him.
If we allow mastery points to decrease those who are truly good at their champs will actually have lv 5+ and deserve it. And not EVERYONE will have lv 5 mastery on half of the champs.

Mysticman891 votesI wouldn't mind if they decreased our points with a champ if it was reworked, but otherwise I feel like if you've gotten enough points to reach mastery 5 with a champ, you really have played that champ enough to know its in's and out's, even if you don't actually play it much relatively speaking.
Ranks 6/7 by virtue of needing S-/S ranks (or better) will indicate that someone actually is good relative to the community on those champs, but rank 5 showing that someone knows the champ is still an accomplishment. I expect most people don't stray too far from a main dozen or so champs, so I doubt people would in the long term end up with 5 mastery on half the champs (or even close to it) unless they were someone who spent their time actively grinding mastery on new champs. And those people should probably be rewarded for such.
