I am kinda curious though to see some statistics from riot now

Due to the removal of soloQ, people are undoubtedly gonna leave the game. While I don't know why you did it, how much did it actually affect your population? Did you actually lose around 5% of your playerbase (around 3m players)? Or was everyone just complaining like usual and you lost less than 1% of your playerbase? We all see those posts that say "we're quitting" and a day later they've played 10 matches.

Basically what is your population now from what it was before?

You could infer the number by watching the dislike bar in the youtube vid or the downvotes on the announcement

Not really. You could say that about anything but if the boards are any indication, you can't do that lol.

Someone will have a "goodbye" thread with 500 upvotes and yet be seen playing the game the next day. People may disagree, but they don't seem to stop playing. Happens with a lot of games tbh.

i'm sure they're just looking for another game to get their fix

There's almost a halfdozen other f2p mobas immediately available. This is hardly an excuse. Those players who make those threads and still play are just doing it for attention.

They haven't released statistics since 2014. They've been on the decline and they don't want us to know.

This is definitely true.

I think that they are scared about their position. Their recent decision making is actually pretty consistent with that. They are dropping projects they don't see a future for, they are trying really hard to release videos to explain themselves, etc.

Hard to say. Because they also get new players.

Look at CoD. That video I think set a record for the most dislikes for a YouTube game trailer lol. Yet they don't care and do what they want. And they will still get the 12 year olds asking their mom for it for christmas. League is trying to appeal to a younger/more casual gamer. So they will probably get more players in that regard.

Battlefield, however, listens to their players and gave them what they asked for. League is the CoD of MOBAs xD

I've been saying this since people realized how bad DQ was and the controversy that it caused.

Why Riot can't release some REAL statistics (ie population) to back up their claims that people love DQ, is beyond me...

Because any they do release will be flawed. A bit like Lyte's survey that concluded that everyone loves DQ and there are no haters.

...Yeah we all know that was a load of bullshit.

"More people are playing Ranked than ever before" Oh really? Well given you removed so many other options (SoloQ, Team5s, Twisted Treeline Ranked, Team Builder, Dominion etc etc) it's no surprise.

Suppose we should be grateful they didn't kill ARAM to force more people into playing DynoQ.

Riot would never give us any numbers, unless they are heavily skewed in their favor. They don't want any hard proof to back up the fact they fucked up.

DorkunedAuras1 votes

why would they ever give us hard proof that they fucked up, regardless if they had any?

Fenikkusu11 votes

Not saying that it has to show they failed, I'm just saying they won't give us any numbers period out of fear.

It's more likely to be be 5% of the ranked player base. But that's not a huge amount. Most people do not play ranked nor spend money on the game. It's still thousands upon thousands of players, but not the great biblical exodus the boards would make us think.

Reactions may be abrupt, but effects often take time.

With DQ you have a percentage of people who will quit out of a feeling of betrayal or disgust, sure. Most people are at least going to try to make it work.

Avoiding the question of how DQ works compared to all previous seasons of ranked gameplay, the game is fundamentally different. The experiences that go along with the game are also fundamentally different. It's going to take some time for people to slowly redefine what it means to queue into a game of League. For people who have been here years and aren't really looking to ask those sorts of questions, it could take time.

What you want to look for is a trend over time, starting early 2016 and moving onward. Effects of DQ will be felt over a year or two, not overnight, as people find they have different experiences than what they expect, or what they are looking for, etc.

They've said there is more ranked play than any other season, that's about all we know right now.

They also said they would try to make some of their statistics metrics more visible to us, I'd like to see that happen.

remove all other queue's

yep we see an increase in ranked play

eh. . .

yea who would have thought

remove all other queue's

ALL other queue are gone... well... except for blind pick, draft pick, twisted treeline, ARAM, custom games, and featured modes every weekend.

No video game will last forever... Even if they lose some players, this game is still the most popular.

DarkRitual1 votes

I would bet the quitters don't make much of an impact on total population. New players are replacing them, and will likely continue to rise for awhile afterwards.

I'd like to see the statistics that show, what they claim that DQ reduced toxicity and increased ranked participation.
