Udyr seems like he would be a good choice for a 6-Point skill champion

As in six points max on each of his skills instead of five. That would allow him to fully level three of his skills with no points in the fourth rather than the current situation where your last skill has a few useless points languishing in it late game.

May or may not make him stronger, but it seems like it would be a better way to set the guy up.

Eh, doesn't really fit Udyr. His entire schtick is about stance changing, and theres never a situation where a stance is completely useless. It's always worth having a few points in it. Elise and Nidalee would make much more sense.

I would argue Tiger Stance is inferior to Phoenix in more situations than not actually.

However on that note, it isn't as if his path can't include being a turret and dueling monster with Tiger incentive. Giving 6 would let him capitalize on what path he wanted to take much more efficiently if not more smoothly.

I argue that this is a terrible idea. If I go into full out on just 3 abilities, I'd like some real buffs and not some compensation that had been laid to Jayce before he got any small buffs.

I know that not being able to max all of them is aggravating but if you must do 3, then do the 3 and have the last 3 upgrades for his unused one so that its there.

The thought sounds about right but its just a nerf and as someone who spent a lot of time with Udyr when I first got onto League, I know that its difficult for him because he already cannot get up to his max potential. Udyr has no real ultimate and only has his 4 abilities (Jayce having 6 and every 1 upgrade helps 2 abilities). The only way I'd want to fix Udyr is to make all of his abilities go up to 4 max and save the last 2 for a upgrade-able passive. Imagine if Udyr started out with a passive that allowed +5% and could grow to +7% and +9% after two upgrades.

His Q should be able to deal max damage at a level 5 standard faster as well as being able to level up all his abilities with no real drawbacks as they will just level up faster.

If you don't like it, I'll understand. :/

I can understand. I'm trying to say that you are completely able to do what you could before, but if you wanted to specialize in early ganking and later turret taking and go Tiger/Warrior rather than Late Phoenix/Sated, than you can strengthen that playstyle of Udyr specific to the player or situation they attempt to simulate. I would actually like to see a Syndra type passive tacked on where he gets an extra effect based on if he maxes an ability (weaker for Phoenix ofc since that is far too popular). In the same vein, it could be a pointless buff to give 6 points to each just because of taking away from equilibrium management to not make 1 skill even more useless than the rest.

If you're Phoenix, then the IAS of a low level tiger stance is good for taking towers later in the game, or pumpking out faster wave-clear

If you're Tiger, then a low-level Phoenix adds some wave-clear, not amazing but useful since that's the distinct weakness of Tiger stance

I feel like the low-point 4th ability probably adds more power than a 6th point in 3 abilities. I would not do it unless the 6th point enables some kind of ascended stance that is much better than the normal one.

Udyr is already in a great spot though, neat idea anyways.

I'm not talking about whether or not he's good. This topic is about lacking design.

At the moment, Udyr effectively has three dead levels from 16-18. Typically those are the levels when a champion is rounding out their kit with their Ult and polishing off their utility skills. Udyr effectively gets nothing.

4th stance is a definite boost in power, unless you're playing some crazy double tiger/phoenix build with no turtle or bear until those late levels

it would also shift a bit off his power from early to late, i like the idea.

hmmm will he still have 4 abilities?

Yeah, four abilities with a cap of 6 points in each rather than five.

That would allow him to fully level three of them with no points left over in the fourth.

hmmm my head hurts to much to really think about this to hard. Will he still have the same amount of power at level 6 of the ablility that it was at 5. Lets say Live udyr does like 200 damage on his 3rd hit from phoenix strike at level 5, will he do the same damage at level 6 of the ability or will he do more like 240?

I can't really proscribe what the numbers would look like, I'm only pitching general ideas. But if I had to hazard a guess, it would probably end up with somewhere between 220 and 240 damage at level 6. That's more or less what Riot did with Jayce when they swapped him over to 6 skill point abilities.

alright and he has to give up an ability for it...I will agree to this idea.

The one that got that to work was Karma because of Mantra. Her level 6 skills were superior to other champions' too. Jayce got it too lately but his R was never point worthy most of the time.

Udyr gets more benefit of having a low level skill like AliceAndSven mentioned.

the entire point of having 6 point skills is that those champions have one skill they cannot put points into (their ult), having the ability to put 6 points in each skill would mean pretty much the "which of these skills is the worst/ i can get away with never putting a single point into" One skill will always become "the bad one" or the "this is not worth it" and it will also specially kill any sort of mid game adaption since if you already have 1 point in 3 skills that means if you put a single point in that 4th one then you are shit out of luck since now you have a skill unable to get max ranked while having this one point that lies uselessly in this other skill

Frankly, I don't like Udyr. I don't like Udyr players either.

If this hampers them in any way, I support it.
