+% Shield and Heal vs AP?

I did a quick calculation and find it's still better to stack AP to increase heal/shield on champ like Sona Janna ,especially Janna because she has 0.7x AP scaling on her shield than buying all +%shield and heal items.

Do people buy items like item 3222 item 3107 for their utility and price instead of strengthening a champ's spells? item 3001 item 3116 gives decent AP and quite cheap, although their passive are probably less useful on support champ. So far item 3504 is my favorite because it gives AP and +%heal/shield I'd like to try AP builds on support mages (assuming my calculation is correct) but I'm afraid others will flame me for off-build.

%heal/shield is more effective because they're cheaper and give other valuable stats/actives. AP is okay in terms of the effectiveness of heals and shields, but they're more expensive, and don't give you utility actives.

I have built both styles and feel the heal side is better then the ap side. I tend to build redemption, mikael, ardent, athene and morellons. All these items have cooldown reduction so i can proc my heal and damage more often as well as having life and mana regen, extra health, magic resist and some ap still. The result is a huge sustain in lane. Also redemtion heals your allies, damages minions and enemy champs has cool down reduction and can be useds long range even when your dead, this can mean killing a champ or saving your own even when your not in lane.. just something to consider if you didnt work in cooldown reduction hope this helps.
