What if...We get rid of items

I just had a dream where players depended on their champions kit and not items to play the game. Seemed all pretty balanced and the game suddenly became fun.

So... you're removing the support role and JG role since their items are so critical. And the main purpose of last-hitting is gone.

I mean, might as well just make it a whole new game.

Right? Like. Just clear waves however you want. Just duo top and bot. Get rid of jungle completely. I mean. At least it's balanced, right? XD

Your dream is called Hero's of the Storm. Go play it and see if you still think the game would be better without items.

They do that in Heroes of the Storm...it's not fun. If someone gets your hard-counter, there is nothing you can do against them for the entire game. Items allow mitigation of people/builds/champs who just do the same thing over and over again. I main Veigar. You wanna fight my infinitely stacking AP with nothing to counter it? Doesn't sound like fun to me. Or maybe you picked Fizz, and as soon as you hit level 6, you just flash-combo-ignite-deleted me every time it was up. That doesn't sound like fun either.

I had a dream I could jump off the building and fly. Everything seemed pretty fine. But dreams aren't reality. XD

Riot definitely wouldn't do that for the main game, but it could make for a fun rotating game mode. Players could see how long they can last without the items that they normally use. But that is just what I think.
