@Deep Terror Nami and other Nami mains

For all my talk about Aurelion and Shyvana (two of my mains), I've almost never talked about my main support (and the one who carried me to Gold last season), Nami.

How did you get her to lv 7? Because while I can get an S on Aurelion relatively easily, it seems to me like Nami (and most supports) need long games to rack up assists and warding.

Is it just my idea, is it true or is there something I'm missing about S on a support? (I've only gotten it on Morgana, Lulu and Soraka and on all three I had very long games)

(I originally made this thread in the EUNE boards by mistake, but nobody reads that place so I brought it here and deleted the other one.)

Edit: I don't get why I'm getting downvoted, it's a legit question....

I've been focusing pretty heavily on completing games in my Steam library, so I actually haven't played enough to reach 7. However, I've had plenty of S's before;

  • Try to show up for all the fights you can to up your assists and kill participation.
  • Remain active in fights. Poke a lot to keep dealing out little bits of damage (it adds up).
  • Keep up vision control, including Pink wards and killing theirs. When you get your Sightstone you need to switch to the Sweeping Lens (Oracle's at 9).
  • Stay close to your allies, but not so close that if they die you are always next. It's ok to back off when you're waiting for CD's in large team fights. Position so the enemy has to be in danger to get to you.

I feel like I never find any wards when I switch to Oracle's (still get it vs stuff like Teemo though). I prefer using Farsight in long games to ward Baron without having to run all the way up there.

I need to use Pink wards more, I always seem to forget.

I don't main Nami but I am a support main and have managed to get several 6s and one 7 so far for champs and what you need to do is

Just focus on how the role is played. In Support, you want to Ward, Remove Enemy wards, make sure you are in team fights to get as much assist/kill participation as possible, Help as much as possible with Objectives (Towers, Drags, Herald, Baron). Make sure you are just helping the team in any way that you can.

I don't really care much about the level 7 mastery I have been going around getting all supports to level 5... only playing Nami in ranked.

I agree with all the points Deep terror made

Feel free to heal and buff people they are easily going to get a kill just to wrack up an assist.

Keep your eyes open for chances to help, Nami can move across the map quite fast. I was warding river then I noticed a fight break out in mid and swam upstream to help. The enemy ryze managed to catch my mid laner just before I made it but he was very low and I was able to finish him off. The Junglers had the same idea and also arrived and had a fight and I with my help we took out the jungler as well. Bot lane wasn't going anywhere my adc was struggling but knew how to play defensive by making a play like this I was able to get myself rolling. You are not chained to bot lane you can make plays around the map.

Ha, I love how you're so used to Nami that you actually describe moving up the river as "swimming upstream".

My ADCs seem to get trigger-happy when I leave them alone. Especially the Vaynes. So I'm not really fond of roaming. Unless I got something like an Ezreal or a Caitlyn and they have decent positioning.

Ergh! I hate vaynes always think they are so skilled they can 1 v 2 everyone.

It was Ezreal in this case.

One of the tips I have is to either play safe and get as many assists as you can. When a teamfight happens use locket if you have it or don't forget to use it and make sure to poke in lane. Some people think that to get an S you need a good amount of wards, a good kda, a higher than average damage than normal for that champ and/or kill participation. Hope this helps :)

I often use E for the speed buff to get assists. Nami's E is really good as a chasing tool.

Can KS real easy with Nami, by healing your ally and having it bonce off them to kill the guy they attacking, making for S+ with lots of kills.
