Even if they buy QSS, winning is not certain. Because I had a Yasuo buy QSS and have Cleanse vs me (explained to him after the game that Cleanse doesn't work vs Malz ult). Those two weren't enough to protect him vs Galio, Rammus, Varus and Sona.

I guess a lot of threatening CC wins games.

in a straight 1v1 after they get qss it can be a lot harder for malz to win in a fight (in my experience)

I love Malzahar but it is a pretty anti-fun ult. It's balanced because it's risky and short ranged, but nobody likes playing against suppression.

It could, if it had unlimited range, which it doesnt. It has a minimal range of 600, so that means that:

Range Midlaners laugh at it becaue Malzahar has no way to set it up unless they let him walk the 1500+ units between them at any point of laning (yes, 1500 is around the range between 2 ranged midlaners while laning).

Tanks and Bruisers laugh as Malzahar cant burst them unless they literally bought no MR and low HP. Or are Gankplank/Alistar.

ADCs have a peel slave (and often 1-2 other teammates) at all times which means no Nether Grasp since its a channeled ability.

Literally the only ones that get countered by Malzahar are glass melee that depend on diving him, effectively giving him a free engage while he CCs them. Guess what are the most popular midlaners? Melee Glass Yasuo Zed Talon Fizz

Actually Fizz (check op.gg or whatever) has a high winrate vs Malz.

I hate Fizz. I main Malz. I got 73% winrate (down to 63% entering Plat).

Before 6? HUEAHUEHUEHUE Dive in, dodge out.

After 6? HUEHUEHUEHUE LANDED ULT MEANS YOU CANT ULT FIZZ BECAUSE IT WILL INTERRUPT YOURS. AND IF YOU WAIT? YOU DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE!

You can counter build, build MR and HP, making sure to not stand in Malzahar's pool. If you see the pool come down and call of the void, Malz is most likely setting up his full rotation and his next cast will be his ult.

My point is if you didn't pick the correct champion such as someone with a spellsheild or cleanse or Galio, then you can't counter play. You can only counterbuild and counterpick that ult. I find it unhealthy, but not broken as there is clear counterplay. The only thing is late game you can't counter build it if you don't scale off AD.

The thing about current Malz is he is designed to punish people who get caught out. If it has reached late game, you should be punished for it, since you should be grouped with your team who can cancel Malz's ultimate for you.

I understand the need for it to be toned down early game when it is 1v1, but late game you have to factor in your own team and take into account that it is a channeled spell and can be canceled with any hard CC from the four other members of your team, which due to its range, they should be close enough to get.

There isnt really a need to do that, since Malz can only 1v1 people who dive him, because no mobility, no basic spell CC and low range on WER. Which are basically 3-4 champions in midlaner, those he is supposed to counter.

I can point at any mechanic or ability in this game and twist/ignore facts to make it look OP.

And lets be honest, the only ones that complain about short range point and click hard CC are hypermobile champion players, which you know, are supposed to be weak against said reliable CC.
