Assassins and mage similar?
They have a lot of similarities.
They're both burst casters that scale very well with levels More levels mean more burst damage AA damage per level is usually 3.5, Burst damage per level is even with average mana per level (or 50% HP per level) on their rotation, which is around 40. If you even everything out.
Being the highest level also usually means you don't need to do that extra 80160 damage by merits of opponents being 12 levels lower than you.
which is the reason to send them mid lane, as mid lane offers the most experience, and thus most levels, and thus most burst damage.
However - assassins and mages differ heavily in their overall strategic use.
Assassins are good in 1v1 isolated duels. Mages, not so much. Assassins are often the most mobile, lowest CC class of the game. Assassins are usually melee as well.
Mages exceel in 5v5 situations. Assassins not so much. Mages are often the highest range, lowest mobility class of the game. Mages usually have respectable CC as well.
Which tends to mean you want to run compositions that force 5v5 fights and win objectives with mages, where assassins are looking more for splitting teams up.
