Aurelion Solo Counterpick List before the QQ begins.

Ahri : Ult Dash range is not long enough to skip the stars, but if you charm him, there's no more Stars and you can close the gap to kill

Akali Fizz Zed Talon YasuoKassadinEkko Diana They have all the necessary tools to either Dodges the stars (mitigate the dmg too) when closing the gap to him or have enough range on their gap closers to not care about him and just get the kill. Extra : yasuo blocks his Q and R. Talon is currently not a good pick because of a bug that makes it so his ult Cost 100 mana to activate AND reactivate early.

Katarina Not as good as a pick at it seems, even if his Q is down, an Aurelion Sol with a brain will keep his ult for you and wreck you for it. Credits to MasqureMan for noticing my mistake

Leblanc Don't scared to be on top of him even if she can assasinates from a distance. Once his Q is down, there's nothing he can do to you.

Long range champions like Lux Anivia Galio MalzaharVelkoz are technically good, but you won't necessarily shut him down since he has great Waveclear power and excellent roaming power (Think of TwistedFate, their laning phase are very Similar). You really need a champion able to shut him down early so he won't roam elsewhere to get kills where he can.

General tip : Once the Q is down, you have 10 seconds (Q cooldown) to get on top and trade. Just be careful when going out due to stars. Very Similar Laning phase to TwistedFate (Weak in lane, but clears waves well and offers excellent gank for global snowballing)

Katarina Little risk, need to wait for him to use his Q and then he's all yours.

Kat will be terrible against any sol with a brain, both q and R screw her

True, noted and Edited. Thanks

As of Galio, he counters his lane, but Aurelion Sol Roaming is much stronger. Galio would enter in the long range champions of the last paragraph.

Assassins just ruin his day.

Hell, why not Galio

I think ASol is a really risky mid lane pick...as most mid laners counter him. All the top played and top performing mids will counter him, making his laning phase a complete nightmare. I will only play him out of the jungle.

That's why I compare him to Twisted They are both weak overral in laning Phase no matter the meta due to always having a good assassin to counter them in each patch. BUT, they clear minions fast and roam out very fast with a great ganking power. I wouldn't first pick him for sure. He's a counter for some short Ranged champions like Swain and Annie tho. Overral, once the Assassins get lvl 6, it's over for him.

If Aurelion lands his Q on anyone of these, they will die... Tanky DPS fighters are way more annoying for him than squishy assasins.

The Q is slow and easy to Gap-closer Through, but I agree it's deadly if it lands and he got Rylai ready. That's why he would only counter Short-ranged/Melee champions and get his day ruined the moment the Assassin he's facing gets lvl 6.
