How do you balance that?

How do you find a balance when there are champs which have so much room for errors in their kits, while there are champs of similar strength who get the job done more easily and safely?

What are the trade-offs or things in general to keep in mind?

Im just a pleb left wondering and looking to be educated.

The ones who are harder/riskier have more strength than the one who are easier/safer.

I would contradict that. This would mean, as i understand it, that some champions are simply better then others in the hands of an experienced/good player. That is however not the case. Even the hardest champions don'nt have more then 52/53% winrate (if played by mains).

That would mean Riot has everything balanced properly.

Well, there are Champs like Garen, and then there are Champs such as Azir. Riot balances the game in such a way, that they reach the ~50% Winrate if you play them properly. The result is champions of a varying degree of difficulty.

Generally, the difference between simple and complex champions is versatility.

The complex champions typically have more options available to them in any given situation.
