I don't want to see the surrender vote window when 2 people already said no

It's blocking my screen and it's pointless to still have it on the screen when 2 people said no.

I don't want to see the surrender vote.

You can drag the box off the edge of the screen and then you'll never see it again (for that game - the position resets between games.)

The only downside is then other people who haven't done so will have the surrender box stuck on their screen because you will never vote.

can still vote by using commands

but you wouldnt have seen it

There is a message in chat when someone starts a surrender vote

SoryInAdvance1 votes

i know but its far less noticable. I personally never notice those unless i want to see who started the vote so i know who to mute.

the Anarchit3cht3 votes

i, on the other hand, always notice those so its a bit of an invalid argument.

Good for you? But its far less noticable than a giant freaking box up on the side of the screen where it shouldnt be. You're eyes are far more likely to notice a change where it shouldnt be. New text comes up in the chat box every time someone pings or types something, meaning your eyes are less likely to care about a change like that because it is constantly happening over the course of a 30 minute game. That surrender box only comes up maybe once or twice.

the Anarchit3cht1 votes

Speak or yourself because I notice everything in the text box. I use it primarily because I have time stamps and its WAY more important.

SoryInAdvance1 votes

Just describing basic human instincts. Our brains are really good at detecting change, but something that is constantly changing ends up being subconsciously regarded as normal and begins to be ignored.

the Anarchit3cht1 votes

You're speaking a bunch of nonsensical mumbo jumbo.

SoryInAdvance1 votes

No, i'm talking about actual human cognitive behavior. Maybe that's going straight over your head, I don't know, or really care, but there's loads of research and studies proving what i'm saying and I'm just applying it here.

the Anarchit3cht1 votes

And you links to none of them and are actually basing this entirely off your own anecdotal evidence. As am I, but the question is... why should your anecdote be regarded as more true or correct than mine?

SoryInAdvance1 votes

Literally all i've been saying is that the brain has a higher tendency to notice a change...I would hope thats common knowledge enough that this can be considered some of the most basic psychology there is. The tv show "Brain Games" is nearly entirely based on this idea.

And that all golden text is QUITE the change from the typical blue and white text. When I see a line of golden words disrupting red/blue and white text, it catches my eye and I pay attention to it.

I am a firm believer that the very presence of an option to surrender the game early invites negativity and it should abolished entirely. That being said, I like that the window stays open until all 5 votes are cast, so that I can choose not to vote and prolong the window for a toxic player to spam it.

Lauchmelder2 votes

They think about reducing the surrender time to 15 minutes. Now people can be toxic ff spammers even earlier.

I haven't even seen a surrender vote used properly in months

The only acceptable surrender is one that causes two nexus explosions.

Unfortunately the surrender option is necessary because there are games which are simply lost (or they can won but you are better off just losing and going to another game) and you wouldn't want to wait until late game so that they can end.

That said, the changes that I would make to the surrender system:

  • Allow people to surrender at 10 minutes instead of 20.
  • However, players must wait 6 minutes after a failed vote, instead of 3, to make another surrender vote.
  • Also, a player cannot make a surrender vote twice in a row. If that player wants to make another surrender vote, he must wait for someone else to do so, then wait the 6 minute fail time.

I would really like to have at least the latter option to be implemented. I am getting tired of people who spam surrender votes just because they think the game is lost even though the rest of the team just wants to play as normal.

I agree that a surrender vote is necessary, but what is not necessary is that I see surrender votes on my screen... ever.

I want to be able to auto answer all surrender votes with 'no' and never see a pop-up.

If 2 people vote no but 2 more people vote yes then you know the morale of your team

It is useful

SoryInAdvance1 votes

I've had plenty of games that i won when the ff vote was 3 for 2 against.

Mozi Godsend3 votes

..or you know.. just ask for a X 'close' button... so those who want to keep it up to see it can, and those who just want to close it can do that too..

seems like common sense suggestion... surprised no one thinking of it.

Drag it off the screen.

Why force people to drag it off screen when Riot can easily remove the surrender window when 2 people say no?

The default should never be getting rid of something, but giving you an option to do it. It's common sense.

The vote staying there shows you how your team is feeling about the game at the moment. If you don't care you move it.

That is called pro-consumerism. Lots of companies have this kind of approach. If you don't need something, you don't have to have it. Modular power supplies exist for this purpose alone.

Having a box with some information on it is not pro-consumerism. If it were trying to sell me something then yeah it would be.

False 0012 votes

Correct me if im wrong but I think Riot has said that they keep it up even after 2 no's just to know what your team mostly wants to do regarding ff'ing or not

doiminat0r36002 votes

Just move the box. Geez.

I wondered about this, and then one game I had a Veigar who voted no, bringing the total to 2-2. The last person hadn't voted, and Veigar went AFK. The last person voted yes, and the 3-2 surrender passed.

[zombie-brand-mindblown]

I was glad to be out of that game.

I like to see how many people want to surrender vs how many people want to keep playing. I don't like to surrender, but sometimes I think it's good when someone /ff's. It's like, OK THEN, let's try to refresh, change our strategy and see if we can actually win this. 5 minutes later you will hopefully have 4 green check marks
